"Do NOT use soap to clean your IFL products"
How to properly care for your Fleshlight(s)!
Alright, so you want to learn how to care for your Fleshlight, eh? Well you've come to the right place! I've owned over 30 different textures and models produced by IFL and I feel like I am reasonable in saying that I'm a Frequent FLyer. The first Fleshlight I ever got, the STU, grew mold within the first year of me owning it. This is not normal, and the life expectancy of a Fleshlight is much, much higher than that. This was due to poor care on my part.
Okay, so what is it that you need to know? First of all, ALWAYS use Water Based lube, any other kind will deteriorate the inside of the Fleshlight over time, and is highly not recommended. Good brands to look at are ID-Glide (my favorite), Gun Oil H2O, Astroglide, and Fleshlube. I do not recommend Fleshlube as it is very expensive because it's hard to find it outside of the Fleshlight website where it is highly overpriced.
After finishing, pull the sleeve out of the case and rinse it in warm water (not too hot, extremely hot water can harm your Fleshlight) for a few minutes, to make sure all of the cum and lube has been flushed out.
An optional step is to pour a little bit of Isopropyl Alcohol (70%/91% work best) and hold one end of the Fleshlight closed and shake it around a little, to disinfect the inside of the sleeve. Fleshlight’s web site says that Isopropyl Alcohol is for extreme cases only, but I have yet to encounter any problems with using 91% Isopropyl after every use (probably 500+ total). If you are worried however, Fleshlight does offer a product known as "Fleshwash" which you can buy off their site, and although much more expensive, it works just as well and is supposedly safer for your Fleshlight.
Now, this is the tedious part. Letting your Fleshlight dry! This is where things go wrong, putting your Fleshlight away without letting it dry properly might cause mold to grow on the inside of it, making it unusable. To quote ThePowerHouse from the Fleshlight forums, "Your penis is not the only thing that loves a warm moist hole."
It's not as bad as people make it sound though. There are many ways to expedite the process. First of all, my favorite way, get a pair of chopsticks and a tough paper towel brand and wrap the paper around the chopsticks. Place the chopsticks into the Fleshlight and squeeze the outside of it so that the paper towel can absorb the water. You have to be sure that it's a tough brand because a weak paper towel will leave pieces behind inside the sleeve, which can get very irritating (trust me!). Another way is to simply run a clean dry towel through the inside, and press on the outside, this works well but if it is a poor quality towel it will leave some pieces of dirt and lint behind, which are very hard to reach.
After you've dried the inside a little, let it sit by a windowsill or fan for 30-60 minutes with both end caps off, and you'll be safe to store it!
The final optional step is powdering the outside of your Fleshlight in corn starch! This may sound silly, but it lets the flesh retain its soft feel. Fleshlight offers a product on their website known as "Renewal Powder.” It says right on the site that it is 100% corn starch and it's horribly overpriced. My advice is to stay away from it and just pick up a box of corn starch from your local grocery store which will last you a long time.
You're now ready to store your Fleshlight for future use. By following these steps you can ensure your Fleshlights last as long as possible! Thanks for reading this article and I hope I've helped in some way or another!
