At the beginning of this year, Chatroulette, the Russian website that became the place to be if you wanted to see random naked penises, reported a 60 percent decline in hits from U.S. users. The site then announced it was going to capitalize on the traffic that was left by, well, selling penises—or, at least, selling access to the owners of the penises.
“Every day, about 50,000 men are trying to get naked,” Andrey Ternovskiy, the website's owner, said back then. “What we're doing is selling the naked men to a couple of websites—it's an investment for us.”
Well, now he says he's getting rid of the penises, in hopes of luring back all the random chatters who would rather not look at them. Chatroulette now has visual penis detecting software, community moderation, and 32 live, real people—call them cockblockers—constantly watching to try to make sure everyone keeps their pants on.
Yeah, we're sure that'll work. We want to visit the site already.
But wait! There's more! Not only are they ditching the dicks, but to celebrate their new image, Chatroulette is teaming up with 99Designs and they're giving $1,000 to the best Chatroulette logo designer.
