I'm on a blog commenting high...this is like my third comment this morning...

Thank you so much for sharing this. I love feminism, but like everything there are people that only know so much. Personally, I was a completely different feminist 5 years ago than I am now. When I couldn't laugh at blatant misogynistic jokes because I was afraid that I was offending someone, I realized that isn't what the reality of being socially aware is about.

This is a fantastic quote “You know a movement’s made it into the collective consciousness when it’s so big that it can encompass opposing viewpoints.”

I love your blog, and your kinky-self. You're a great feminist, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Another great post!

Personally, I think your experiences kind of represent that 1,000lb elephant in the room when it comes to writing about sex, gender and sexuality; everybody's so quick to slap a label on things and too many people expect and demand others to conform to their 'standards' of acceptable sexuality and gender politics. In many ways, the sex positive community can be just as judgmental as vanilla society; equally unwilling to embrace the fact that EVERYBODY'S sexuality and gender assessment is as unique as they are.

Personally, if others criticize you for not being an 'acceptable' form of feminist, I'd ask them which suffragette awarded them the authority to deem what is and isn't 'acceptable.'
