Both the controller and bullet are made of phthalates-free ABS plastic, with a polyurethane coating to give it a nice soft surface feel. Understandably, it does have a plastic scent that will transfer to the skin until it has been washed a time or two.
There is no texturing on any part of the toy, and minimal surface drag, so it can be used externally with little or no lubricant.
The bullet itself measures 1" wide x 2.25" long, which is plenty to hold onto and buzz your bits to bliss with, yet not too big to fit between partners during sex. The 30" cord makes this even easier, since it's a good length for reaching wherever you need to, without having a lot of access wire lying around to get tangled in.
The controller is great, having a somewhat "womanly" curved shape, that fits comfortably in the hand and puts the single control button right at your thumb tip. On the back of it is a slide-off panel for accessing the battery compartment, and this lines up well with the body of the controller and snaps firmly shut so there's no battery "fallout" if you squeeze it too hard.
The Body & Soul Passion vibrator requires 2 AA batteries (not included), and is controlled by a generously-sized push button. With an audible click for each, you get medium strength vibrations, then stronger vibrations, and then the toy turns off. There's a notable difference between the two vibration strengths. Both can be felt easily through clothes, yet the stronger one sends vibrations traveling through a much wider area of skin, and is a bit more powerful than the average bullet. As in, it has the potential to numb your fingers in short order. Neither would be suitable for extremely sensitive bodies.
The vibrations can be felt pretty much evenly over the entire surface of the bullet, and it's surprisingly quiet. You can hear the vibrations through a blanket if there's no background noise going on, but it's very unlikely that anyone would hear it through thin walls or a closed door. The "click" of the control button could possibly be heard through a closed door, though.
The infrared heat comes from a couple of tiny red lights inside of the bullet, which come on as soon as the toy is turned on and warm through the plastic. It's not an even warmth, as the lights are only on one side of the bullet, so only in that small area is there any significant temperature change. The heat is about equal to that of a warm mouth or... other orifice. There is no chance that you would burn even the most sensitive skin with it.
Taking care of the Body & Soul Passion vibrator is no more difficult that with most corded bullet vibes. The bullet itself can be washed with soap and water, or a commercial sex toy cleaner. The controller is not designed to stand up to any water at all, though, so will need to be cleaned with either a damp rag or a toy cleaner wipe. If you use a toy cleaning spray, it would be best to spritz it on a cloth first and then wipe the controller with it.
It's compatible with any sex lubes, and can be easily stored either in its original box or in a Ziploc bag.
Excellent for buzzing the prostate from the perineum and anal area (that's external, mind you), though it's a bit much if it hits the balls. The heat was a nice touch, too, but would have been better if it wasn't in just one side. My one complaint is how un-waterproof the controller is. I know these things have to be cleaned with a damp rag, but I apparently had too much water in the rag the last time I cleaned it, and it got down in the battery compartment. It was just a few drops and easy enough to wipe out, but still.
It wasn't really my thing. I've never liked toys that were overly buzzy, especially if they're designed so the full force of the vibrations travels through my fingers when I'm holding it. This one flares my carpal tunnel. One gal's turn-off is another gal's orgasm though, so those of you who like vibrators that buzz instead of rumble and leave a lasting tingle behind will love this.
