The Better Than Chocolate vibrator is made of non-porous TPR - think TPR meets hard plastic. It has a velvety texture to it that is not like velvet cote and more like very silky silicone. Run over dry skin, the texture lets the toy glide, and when dampness is thrown into the mix, it skims to and fro with a fair amount of friction to back up its vibrations. It's lovely. The OhMiBod iPod attachment part is made of hard plastic.
The Better Than Chocolate's design is such that it works very well for some, moderately well for others. There are over twenty reviews of the Better Than Chocolate here on Eden Fantasys (and probably many, any more to come) so I would recommend perusing those reviews to get a sense of why it was loved or not loved.
I personally find that the pinpoint vibrations of the Better Than Chocolate, while totally awesome, get diverted away when my labia brush against the broad "wings", and my labia are quite prone to doing that, which makes it easy to get aroused by the toy but tough to get off. However, this all generally works when using this vibrator as a music enabled pleasure object, because the intensity of the vibrations vary wildly in time with the music and subtle control of the vibration becomes less important. Using the vibrator becomes more of a ride for fun rather than a quest towards and orgasm.
The Better Than Chocolate has convoluted controls - the touch pad is not intuitive and it is best to read the user manual for this toy before diving in. In a nutshell, however, there is an on/off button on the battery end, and the intensity can be brought up or down by sliding your fingers up or down the touch pad. Tapping the symbol gets you into patterns. Tapping and holding the front of the slider bar locks the toy. None of that stuff (except maybe the locking), however, is really all that relevant to using the OhMiBod portion of this toy, because the OhMiBod makes patterns that use the intensity you have the toy set at as the maximum intensity, and patterns that go with the pulse of the music. So my suggestion? Plug the OhMiBod into your iPod's phone jack (your phones, or your speakers, plug into the OhMiBod) and turn it up to high using the dial on its side. Then turn on the Better Than Chocolate and crank it up. Press play on your music device, and enjoy the ride.
The intensity of the vibrations can be globally turned down by messing with the Better Than Chocolate (not recommended because touch pad is finicky), turning down the OhMiBod, or turning down your volume. I recommend finding a good balance between volume and OhMiBod intensity to get your maximum vibration level set where you like it.
The Better Than Chocolate is waterproof up to 1M underwater, and it is robustly waterproof (special clamp down screw top lip PLUS o-ring) so by all means use it in the bath (pool etc...) but do be careful about your music device (waterproof bags for iPods and the like are available from water-sports stores). Anyways, because the Better Than Chocolate is so waterproof, clean up is a breeze - wash with soap and water or use toy cleaner, or wipe down with a 10% bleach solution...but don't stress too much about keeping any parts of the toys dry. Do your best not to get lube and the like on the OhMiBod, be careful cleaning it off because it is not waterproof in the slightest. Store the OhMiBod Better Than Chocolate in it's box for simplicities sake, or in your toy box if you prefer. Be careful not to break the OhMiBod by careless storage and handling - it's the type of hard plastic that likes to crack due to accidents in cluttered drawers.
The OhMiBod edition of the Better Than Chocolate comes in a standard Nomi Tang Better Than Chocolate box, with the interior modified to accommodate the OhMiBod and the Better Than Chocolate. The box is really nice - fabric covered cardboard with a hinged lid, lined with satin. This is a box that is worth keeping, just because the toy requires the two components to work so they need to be easy to keep together. Besides, I personally think I will tend to pull out this toy specifically for epic music masturbation sessions instead of common daily use, so it's better in its box because it can then be shelved with ease.
The box also includes a satin pouch that fits the Better Than Chocolate and the OhMiBod well enough, if you prefer to go that route. There is also an AV cord included, for linking the OhMiBod into a speaker.
The OhMiBod experience is not one I am overly familiar with, mostly because I have never been all that intrigued by the boring vibrator shapes used for the classic OhMiBod and Freestyle. I absolutely adore this version that uses the Better Than Chocolate, despite the fact that the Better Than Chocolate is not my top choice (by a long shot) in the "mouse-shaped" clitoral stimulator category. I can only imagine how much someone who LOVES the Better Than Chocolate would react to this toy. The way this toy takes music and flows it through you is divine. Insane. Epic. Unparalleled.
I mean, I already feel like I tune out when I put a set of ear buds, especially if I close my eyes. Coupling the beats of the music to the pules of this vibrator, however, bought the music deep into my body in a way that listing never has. I'm not talking about focusing attention onto my clit, either (although that is indeed exceptionally pleasant), I'm talking about even just holding the vibrator and feeling the pluses reverberate along deep beneath your skin. It's *really* cool and provides a unique way to experience music. It would be utterly amazing to experience a vibrating-chair-OhMiBod.
The Better Than Chocolate pulses and rolls in time with the music, its range rather narrow but nicely defined, allowing it to really respond to the swings in music. It sits rather nicely along the labia, easily vibrating the entire vulva while lying passively along the crest of the mons. Depending on your anatomy, the labia may block the clit from direct stimulation, so a more active technique can be used to hit the clit, or you can just lie back and go along for a slow ride for a while. Either works because really, once the feeling of overwhelming your body with music couples with stimulation of the clit, the sensation is explosive. Music becomes fluid. Sensual. Real and gritty and sexy as hell - like a dangerous rendezvous with an ill advised lover. Well, if you're listening to metal, that is...
Personal preferences in music vary, as do those for sex toys and how to get off, but I did not a few things about music choice that define a "good" OhMiBod song. The beat needs to be pronounced, yet slow. Simplistic - like pop music, but then also really deep Reggae beats hit the right chord, as do rap songs that aren't too fast. Some metal (slow metal) is great, and slower techno stuff works well. The key, really, is simplistic and pronounced beats. I have to admit, however, that 80's pop music seems overall the best.
