La Metropole is made of a combination of aluminum and glossy ABS plastic, both of which are odorless, non-porous and contain no phthalates. The super smooth surface lets this vibrator glide easily across the skin with little or no lubrication.
The elegant design of this vibrator consists of a gorgeous aluminum base in the color of your choice that screws onto the seamless plastic stimulator tip. Inside is a removable cartridge that holds 1 AA battery (not included), and there is a plastic LED light lens on the end of the cartridge that protrudes from the bottom of the base when the toy is assembled. That lens serves as a push button to control the vibrator's speeds.
The rounded curved tip is perfect for pinpoint stimulation on the clitoris or perineum, or you can use the backside of the curve to cover a longer area.
La Metropole's smaller size combined with the non-porous materials make it very easy to hide in a room or to tuck into a travel bag or purse. And if you utilize the included travel case it's very discreet.
This is a very simple vibrator to use; just press and hold the LED lens/button for a couple of seconds to turn it on, and then keep pressing to find the vibration level that you want. The button mechanism is firm enough that it's not likely to be pushed accidentally during use, but not so firm that it's difficult to use.
You can cycle through the five levels of vibrations repeatedly, until you press and hold the button for a couple of seconds again to turn it off. No matter what setting the vibrator is on when you turn it off, La Metropole always starts at the lowest one. The levels are:
1. Gentle steady rumbling vibration.
2. Medium-intensity steady rumbling vibration.
3. Strong steady vibration that is of a higher frequency (thus it feels more buzzy/tingly).
4. Strong high frequency pulsing; buzz buzzzz buzz buzzzz
5. Strong high frequency pulsing; buzz buzz buzzzz buzz buzz buzzzz
The vibrations are a lot stronger in the white plastic area than in the metal base so it doesn't numb your fingers during use. La Metropole isn't a loud vibrator overall, but at the highest three speeds it does emit a high-pitched buzzing that can be heard very easily through the bed covers. So if you're sharing a room with someone or find yourself in a situation where you really need to be quiet, this toy may not be your best choice.
The LED light stays lit while the toy is in use, and serves as a battery indicator right after you turn the toy off; the light will flash three times if the battery is still full, twice when it's at half power, and only once when it's time to replace it.
La Metropole is "splash proof," which means that it's ok if moisture gets on it, but you cannot submerge it.
This toy can be cleaned with any commercial toy cleaner or with antibacterial soap and water. We suggest that you remove the battery from the cartridge before cleaning, but be sure that the cartridge is back in place and the vibrator is firmly assembled beforehand. Otherwise, the missing cartridge leaves the end of the vibrator open and there are exposed electronic contacts inside that could be damaged if they get wet.
La Metropole is compatible with any kind of lubricant, and it can be stored pretty much anywhere.
This vibrator comes in a shrink wrapped two-piece cardboard box that is strong enough to be wrapped for gift giving or to use for storage. The toy nestles in a black foam insert, which you lift out to reveal the instruction manual and black suede travel case.
The box does have a large picture of the vibrator on the top, along with the words "Sensual Massager," so if you're really worried about being discreet you can simply use the travel case for storage instead.
I prefer high frequency vibrations for both perineum and nipple stimulation, so I really like this toy. And the lower level is absolutely amazing if you can get your gal to press it against her cheek during a blow job. I'm not much into using it on Michele though, because it's a bit hard to keep a grip on once things start getting wet and wiggly.
I thought it was odd that this toy had such a distinct difference in vibration frequencies depending on what setting we used. The lower two are nice to warm up with, but the rest are more tingly feeling than what I like. It's a frustrating combination for me really, because if I'm playing solo I have to be patient with the second level instead of being able to click it up that extra notch to finish off quick. I get *really* good results using it on Alan though, so it's still a keeper :D
