The hard plastic shell of the Velvet Sweet Heart has a very slight texture which makes it feel velvety (think matte versus gloss). This finish makes the insertion of toys much smoother, especially when combined with a nice lube.
The long bullet has two seams in the plastic which are rough and may be uncomfortable for some users. Additionally, these cracks will hold lube and other fluids, which is less than optimal in a toy used for insertion.
The Velvet Sweet Heart is designed as a g-spot vibrator, but unfortunately was ineffective for g-spot stimulation for me. The motor in the middle of the bullet does not transmit vibrations well to the upturned tip designed to stimulate the g-spot. Some women may discover that the small nub on the end of this vibrator finds their g-spot, but it left me disappointed.
The size is different from many vibrators out there in that it is larger than your typical bullet, but smaller than a traditional internal vibe. The fairly small size lends itself to discretion, as the cord will wind up nicely around the bullet and store most anywhere. The batteries are quite easy and painless to remove, which is convenient for both storage and travel.
The Velvet Sweet Heart has ten settings which are pretty standard and range from continuous vibration of varying speeds to different cycles of pulsation. There are two buttons on the control pad: one is a power button, the other cycles through the vibrator's functions. Both buttons will turn the toy on if pressed while it is off.
Unlike many other multi-function vibrators out there, the Velvet Sweet Heart will pick up on the setting it was on when last turned off. In other words, if you cycle through to the fourth of the ten available rhythms, and then turn the toy off, when you turn it back on it will start on function 4 rather than resetting itself to the first. This is a convenient feature for folks who find a favorite function that they use more than the rest.
The Sweet Heart has a waterproof bullet with a nicely sealed battery compartment, but the entire toy is not waterproof as the control pad is not well sealed and the toy stopped working when the controls were submerged. The packaging and instructions do not specify whether or not the controls should be able to withstand water.
The vibrations are surprisingly strong considering that the Velvet Sweet Heart runs on 2 AAA batteries. The motor (and therefore the strongest vibrations) are located in the middle of the bullet although some weaker waves can also be felt in the tip.
The seams in the plastic of this toy make cleaning somewhat of a pain, as it's difficult to get down into them to remove lube that's gotten into the crack. This is a potential health hazard if bacteria should be allowed to grow in the crevices. Soap and water can be used to clean the toy, though care should be taken not to allow moisture into the cracks of the battery case or the control panel. Antibacterial soap or rubbing alcohol may be used to sanitize the toy to ensure that bacteria doesn't grow on it.
Hard plastic toys are compatible with most lubes, so grease up and have fun!
The Velvet Sweet Heart's packaging comes with user instructions and care guidelines in at least 8 langages. The packaging is mostly in German, but if you speak English, Italian, French, Spanish, Portugese, Swedish, or Russian, you should be able to find directions that will make sense to you. Neither the packaging nor the instructions reflect high quality and the translations are poor, at best. The front of the package features a beautiful woman with both hair and breasts that defy gravity.
