The insertable portion of the Big Vibe is made of body-safe magenta silicone, and it has no smell or taste. The silicone is matte, but it's fairly smooth to the touch without a lot of drag. It has just a little give when squeezing the vibrator – some parts of the shaft have a bit more give than others. A seam runs up and down the vibrator; it can be seen, and it can be felt with a finger, but it isn’t noticeable during use. The shaft is lightly textured with swirls that are only slightly raised from the surface; these swirls are mostly decorative and don’t add sensation during use.
The base of the Big Vibe is made of ivory-colored ABS plastic, with the You2Toys logo on one side; the control button, which is located on the bottom, is made of the same magenta silicone as the shaft.
This vibrator has a fairly traditional shape and unrealistic look, and it isn’t meant to hit the G-spot. It’s 8” long overall, and can be inserted about 6 1/2". The head is rounded for easy insertion or broad clitoral stimulation. This vibrator’s shaft has 3 sections of graduating width: at the top, the head is about 1 1/2”. After a slight narrowing, the second section is just over 1 1/2", and the bottom part of the shaft is 1 3/4" wide. The toy can be very slightly bent on each bulge, but isn’t flexible enough to allow for large movement.
The base is concave on the bottom, which allows the button to protrude and be easy to press, and it also allows the Big Vibe to be placed standing up on a shelf if desired.
The Big Vibe is fine for travel, but should be packed with the batteries removed.
Javida Big Vibe is powered by 2 AA batteries (not included), which can be inserted by twisting off the base (it only takes about 1/4 turn to remove it). The batteries go in + side first.
The functions are controlled by a single button on the bottom of the base. The button is easy to press, and provides the following functions:
- Low and steady
- Medium and steady
- High and steady
- Long pulses
- Faster pulses
- 3 short pulses, then a step increase from low through medium and high
- Rev from low to high, then a pulse
- High, low, high steady vibrations, then 2 pulses
- Long vibration, then 5 very short pulses
- 2 pulses, then 2 low to med revs
Each press of the button cycles through the patterns, and the cycle repeats. The Big Vibe can be turned off by pressing and holding the button for 2 seconds. When turned back on, the vibrations begin at the first (low and steady) function.
The vibrations are strongest in the tip, but they do travel down the shaft. Your hand won’t go numb if you’re holding on to the silicone at the bottom of the shaft, nor will it if you’re holding onto the base. When thrusting and holding onto the base, it’s not hard to press the button inadvertently and change the vibration pattern.
The Big Vibe is fairly quiet, although it’s louder externally than internally. It won’t be heard through a door with any sort of background music or noise.
The Big Vibe is easy to clean with antibacterial soap and water, a toy cleaner, or wipes, and it should be cleaned both before and after use. Care should be taken not to get water too close to the base, however, as the Big Vibe is not waterproof or splashproof. Should this occur, the base should be removed and the battery compartment checked for water – the inside should be allowed to dry before reattaching the base. The texture is mild, so there are no creases that need special cleaning. Water-based lubricants are recommended.
This vibrator can be stored in its original box or in a toy pouch or bag.
The vibrator comes in a fairly classy white box, with a silhouette of the vibrator and a floral design on the front. The front cover is held to the rest of the box by a magnet; when opened, the Big Vibe is visible through a clear window. The back of the box lists product information in several languages. Inside, the Big Vibe rests in a plastic tray. No instructions are included.
I enjoyed this vibrator. The silicone had a pleasant feel to it, it's a beautiful color (and reminiscent of Jopen's Vanity line). I liked the width and the bit of give that the shaft provided, and I liked the look of the shaft – for me, the texture was more for visual stimulation, but it was a nice touch. The vibrations concentrated in the tip I found to work well, both clitorally and vaginally. While they could have been stronger for my clit, they were decent inside. I particularly enjoyed the patterns – lately I’m all about patterns internally, and all of these felt good.
The one thing I didn’t care for was that the button was too easy to press while thrusting. While pressing it a time or two, and switching patterns, wasn’t too much of a bother, it was annoying when I was on the last pattern and the Big Vibe cycled to low and steady.
