Evolved Novelties’ Pristine is a thick, long vibrator best suited for anyone who enjoys a very full feeling. With a quiet but powerful three-speed motor, this vibrator is body-safe and waterproof. The Pristine is made from bright pink, plush TPR, and is phthalates-free. The top half of this vibrator has several subtle bulges, while the larger, bottom half has vertical ribbing. There is a distinct floral-rubber smell to this vibrator, though I could not find anything on the packaging or the manufacturer’s website to indicate that it might be purposeful. The surface feels a little tacky at times, and tends to “absorb” lubricant.
This vibrator may be a bit large for beginners, as it is nearly six inches around at widest point, and insertable to about seven inches. While not heavy, the Pristine does feel solid, and its plush, squishable material makes insertion somewhat more comfortable. The battery compartment is easy to twist open and shut. There is one push-button to operate the Pristine and access its functions. Unfortunately the Pristine will not stand on its own, as the handle has a curved bottom.
With a push-button mechanism, operating the Pristine is simple. It has three speeds and no additional functions; the highest setting is powerful but pretty quiet. With the motor at the head of the vibrator, most of the power is concentrated there, however the vibrations do travel somewhat down the rest of the shaft. Use in the shower is easy and safe, as the battery compartment shuts tightly and has a tiny rubber gasket to keep water out.
Care and cleanup involves just warm water and soap, though a washcloth or towel can come in handy when cleaning up the ribs and grooves in this toy. Both silicone and water-based lubes are safe to use on the Pristine.
The Pristine comes in a heavily decorated metal box, which a thick plastic cover. The cover “snaps” onto the metal box and is held in place with a pair of thin metal clamps. While this makes for a nice presentation, it seems unnecessary: the box is very bulky, with a great deal of space between the vibrator and the walls of the box. Using it as storage for other sex toys is possible but indiscreet, as the plastic cover is clear and the metal clamps are rather fiddly to operate.
I have to admit, I was a little intimidated by the Pristine when it first arrived. However, I quickly grew to enjoy its girth – up to a point. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get the ribbed portion of this vibrator to fit inside of me! Instead, I ended up bending the shaft somewhat so that the ribbing would rub up against my clit. While I’m still not fond of its floral smell, the Pristine definitely has a place in my toy box.
