The Slim Stimulator is made of a silver-tone rigid plastic that has no smell or taste. It's wonderfully smooth and creates no drag across the skin, making lube more of an option than a necessity.
The design of the toy is totally simplistic, with a twist dial controller at the base and a perfectly straight shaft that has no seam to cause any discomfort. Its thin size and rounded tapered tip makes it extremely easy to insert, and the ridges molded into the dial provide a better grip for adjustments. The modest width also makes it easy to direct the vibrations into just the right spot during clitoral or perineum stimulation.
Measuring less than 6" in overall length, the Slim Stimulator takes up very little space in a purse or travel bag, and is easy to conceal even in a small room.
The entire black base of the toy unscrews counter-clockwise to reveal the battery compartment, which takes two AAA batteries (not included). Once re-assembled, twisting the bottom half of the base clockwise turns the vibrator on and allows you to gradually increase the vibration level. The vibrations are smooth and focused toward the tip of the shaft, and there is a surprisingly big difference in both strength and noise as you turn the dial.
At the lowest level, the vibrations are gentle enough for the most sensitive users and the toy emits a quiet hum, which gets louder as you increase the vibration speed. If discretion is a must for you, the highest level may be something you want to avoid because it's loud enough to be heard throughout most of the house. It does produce intense vibrations at that level though, enough to satisfy even the most power-hungry users, so you may find it worthwhile to wait for some alone time and give it a try.
This toy is also completely waterproof and can be fully submerged during bath and pool play without any problems.
The Slim Stimulator is very easy to take care of, requiring no more than soap and water to keep it clean, and it is compatible with any kind of lube.
The packaging is as minimalistic as the toy itself; just a clear heavy plastic shell that pulls apart in halves and is not designed to provide long-term storage for the toy. There is a dual-sided pink cardboard insert that features a picture of a woman clad in underwear and the words "Sweet Stimulator." The vibrator rests in an indention in the front of the packaging and is visible next to the woman's picture. On the back is a photo of a pink vibrator that isn't the Slim Stimulator and some brief product info.
There is no manufacturer's info anywhere and no instructions, although a slip of paper inside the toy's battery compartment shows you how to insert them.
There's loads of low-end vibes on the market that are pretty much identical to this one, but it seems more durable than most we've seen. It probably wouldn't last for years or anything, but it's of fairly decent quality and well worth the money for what it is. And I'm big on waterproof toys anyway, so it was great to find this one really living up to the claim.
As an insertable toy I didn't enjoy this, but that's simply because I prefer softer toys for that use. For everywhere else though, this little stimulator was impressive simply because I don't think we've ever had a toy with such a wide range of vibrations. The lowest level is like a teasing caress on the neck and breast areas, which I prefer, but the highest setting is almost numbing in its intensity and easily brings on clitoral orgasms. The culinary-blender-on-high noise caught me a bit off guard, but the intense vibrations were worth it. It's kind of a "do all" vibe for general all-over body use.
One thing that bothered me was the lack of info on it though. I like to do a little research on new toys and their manufacturers, but there isn't even a company name printed on the packaging and no website came up when I searched for the one EF gave us. It would be nice to at least be able to find out if the plastic contained phthalates.
