Thanks for the info about the photo software, I will check it out. Have a great evening.
Following, I enjoyed your Liberte review.
Hi indiglo! Thank you for the awfully nice comments you left on my SO Dildo review, I'm glad you find the pictures useful also! Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi there, thank you for that cute massage video...my pooch sure wish he can have a pet kitty like the one in your video! LOL
Hey, great post in the thread on stretch marks! Following.
Indeed, we are usually much too hard on ourselves, and for all the wrong reasons! Women are often too hard on each other as well, seeing other women as competition and/or insulting others in order to make themselves feel better. We women DO need to support each other!
Thanks for complimenting my avatar! The lori isn't mine--though they are gorgeous birds, they are not easy or inexpensive to care for. I am a bird lover, though, and have a small flock of budgies ("American" parakeets) and cockatiels who keep me on my toes, but smiling. For the avatar, I was looking for a parrot on a knotted rope.
So, what's behind your avatar?
Okay, I know I recognize your current quote from something...
The marshmallows are adorable. And sweet! I eat far too much sugar, myself. And goofy is very good!
Aw, you have a BFA...that's awesome. I volunteer with a bird rescue group, so I get to hear all the crazy stories and see all the great photos, without having to worry about the shrieking or the expense or the mess or the damage! LOL! Not that my smaller guys aren't messy, or noisy, or somewhat expensive...and the tiels have done their share of carving various wooden things, heh. I've got three of them, and 15 budgies at the moment--counting my fosters! I tried to find that Nature Special you mentioned on the OnDemand thingy, but no luck. I'll have to try online. And I completely agree that it would be great if birds had never been made pets. The small guys can at least get some flight in a decent-sized cage or in a safe room, but the big guys need a large aviary, and a lot of them never even get to learn to fly. It's awesome that you support the Fly Free campaign!
Ah yes, Dr. Who! I watched some of the old series a while back, and then LOVED the new series when it began, but I was disappointed when they replaced The Doctor after only one season! I liked that guy, and the new guy didn't really pull me in, so I lost track of the show.
As for more than one bird, I don't know...I think maybe six or eight budgies is the equivalent of one larger bird! Maybe it would even take more budgies! They really are very easy to have, and very sweet and entertaining as well, with their flock interactions. I just have to make sure to vacuum and clean the cage often.
How awesome that you took the time and had the patience to build a good relationship with your Amazon! Sounds like she has a wonderful life with you, now. Yay!! And if she's only around 9 years old, you'll quite possibly have the rest of your life with her...or at least a very long time. I understand Amazons are known to live 60+ years when well cared for, and macaws 80 or more! My little guys don't have the same lifespan, but budgies CAN live 15-20, and cockatiels 25-30. I'm hoping for some of those high numbers! One of my tiels was a handfed baby girl in the bird supply shop, who refused to be put down when I was in buying bird food there...this was prior to my knowledge of bird rescue and all the unwanted birds out there, of course. Another was a stray found in a nearby area, whose finder posted on Craigslist; when I emailed to offer advice on care, I was asked to take her, as they didn't know anything about birds--she's a total sweetie, just as snuggly as the first! My third is a boy who was an "oops baby" when two of my former tiels decided to set up housekeeping!
Now, when you say cockies, do you mean the big white cockatoos? Those guys are very entertaining, and can be super sweet and snuggly, but can also be very loud and very clingy. I love to visit them, though! And yes, I have a very hard time not taking in a bird in need. Back when I lived alone, and had a big indoor flight cage plus several smaller (but still big) cages, I was up to almost forty of the little guys! I had to find new homes for a lot of them, especially after one got sick and needed some pretty expensive vet care. I promised my partner I'd stick to a limit of ten after moving in together...haha.
I do hear a lot of sad stories, but a lot of wonderful success stories as well, once the poor abused, abandoned, malnourished, ill, and/or crippled birds get into a good home with a loving person! Another cause of the current problem with unwanted parrots is that people buy them as cuddly babies from breeders and pet stores, and they don't realize that at some point, several years down the road, the bird will hit puberty and act much like a human teenager! They think the bird has suddenly become mean and hates them, so they sell or give the poor thing away...and the cycle begins.
I'm very happy to find another bird-person here, too! I have no idea what you mean about procrastination, though--I never have any problem with that...
Oooh, I didn't know you were an editor this round! So glad you got my Love Mask review!
Thanks for the compliments on my reviews! With the Love Mask, I was really surprised that I was the only one who picked up on its not being genuine leather. I think someone even mentioned in their review how it had that leather smell they loved--it must have been imagination, because it has only a faint, plastic-y smell! I do have a number of leather products, though I know too much to buy them anymore for the most part, so I know what leather smells like. Heh.
Regarding the birds, you might be surprised at how little trouble ten budgies are to care for. As long as they get along and can live in one big cage together, all you have to do is make sure there are enough swings and high perches for each of them to have a sleeping spot, and enough little food dishes so they can all eat at the same time. Of course, it's also easier if you have an extra room that they can safely fly around in a couple times a week! Now, the cockatiels are a little more intensive--they require a bit more space to be able to actually fly, so they need more out-of-cage time, and mine need more personal attention as well, though not all 'tiels do.
One of my little budgies is so cute--he's pastel-colored, with a light yellow face, light greenish upper chest, and aqua blue lower chest and belly, so pretty; he came from an animal shelter in Reno, and is my sweetest little guy. Loves to hop onto my hand and beg for seeds!
And yes, my partner liked my birds right off the bat, which was a big point in her favor! Now we have a dog too, because that's her favorite pet species, and I figured it was unfair for me to get to have my babies and not let her have hers. It's worked out better than I'd expected though, because we adopted the dog fairly young, and she was pretty easy to teach to stay away from the birds and their room. I think she's actually kind of afraid of them, though a little fascinated sometimes. Whew! Does your partner have any of his "own" pets?
Okay, I'd better stop procrastinating myself and go get my errands done...
I saw your comment in a recent thread about the chaos: "I'm just saying that taking a deep breath (and maybe eating some chocolate) couldn't make things worse. Eating some chocolate never hurts. Let's test the theory right now... Nope, it did NOT make things worse. Good call!"
I LMAO! There I was eating Nutella with a spoon while finally catching up on all the threads about the changes! I had been avoiding them for a reason, then decided I better read them, even though I don't want to comment on them. By the time I came to your comment, I couldn't have been more ready, or more surprised to read that! Thanks for making me laugh out loud!
