Writing the book reviews for this club has definitely gotten me to pay attention to a few. I did note Scarlett French in this last book. Mostly because of the way she was able to sexualize something as simple as a shoe shine, I am definitely interested in reading more of her work.

Absolutely. The only author who I know I have read is Anne Rice, and that is because the first erotica I ever read was in The Witching Hour. I have read a couple other actual short stories, I just have no idea who wrote them any more.

Girl, you are missing out! I'd definitely recommend the book we're discussing tonight as a great starter. Or you could browse the interwebz for some free literotica, although those sites will usually not have the same authors who get published in books. However they can help you decide which genre you like to read best.

Off the top of my head, I mentioned Alison Tyler before, she's a great source for fetish erotica. Rachel Kramer Bussel is also a good choice, she does quite a bit of D/s themed books, but more vanilla type books also...

Kristina Wright, Mitzi Szereto and D.L. King are all great choices for erotic fairy-tale and fantasy type stuff (with D.L. having that great vampire book, the Sweetest Kiss)...

I love this too, taking something so normal and not sexual and turning it into a completely erotic experience.

I saw a lot of that in The Mile High Club way back when I read that. It has been a little while since I read it last, but I do remember feeling like I learned a lot of new ways one could "have sex" on a plane.

I do have 35 books in my wishlist currently. I will have to add at least two to my next order.

Alright, doing some job hunting.
I get to go tour a massage therapy school tomorrow.

Blah, trying to get an appointment with a free clinic also.
Having stomach issues. I keep purging and throwing up everything I eat.
My stomach hurts and cramps.
I taste blood sometimes.

I would definitely be seeing a doctor for that. Are they being real bitchy about making an appointment? Maybe mentioning the tasting blood thing might speed things up? I hope you feel better soon, and best of luck with your job hunting!

That's actually on my stack to read. I went nuts and bought a whole bunch of books but since I don't have all that much time to sit and read, I'm saving them for my honeymoon. He likes to read them too, lol.

I have no insurance or anything, so... free clinics are always so packed.

Laurel, do you pick erotic novels by length, or what?
I know of some good books, but they are lengthy.

That stomach thing does not sound good!

Are you considering going to massage therapy school? That sounds fun, but I'd think my arms would get tired and fall off!

I know of some good books, but they are lengthy.
I actually have been working loosely with themes for each month, in the planning.

For January it's taboo, stepping outside the boundaries of what you usually do... getting a little kinky...

But February will be romantic, of course, March is all about the orgasm...,etc. etc.

June is an easy one, Gay Pride Month, of course. Then I had to make July our Lesbian erotica month because there are SO MANY great titles in the gay and lesbian genres I couldn't decide on just 4.

I've not gotten any further than Judy so far, so the themes and titles are still wide open so far. Keep in mind our publishing partner is Cleis Press so all our titles are selected from their catalog.

I wanted to go to school for massage therapy but my back is really bad and the position I would have to stand in would cause it to seize up on a regular basis. It makes me really sad.

You're braver than I. Well, maybe braver isn't quite the word, but I can't stand giving lengthy massages. More specifically I can't stand the way it makes my hands feel. I couldn't do it all day long, that's for darn sure, lol

I know I keep hearing about a Steampunk erotica book. I would love to see that one make the list. Maybe October for Halloween? I don't think it comes out until May.

I know that there is a contest type dealy to enter your erotica into it. If you do so you wont know until June, if this is the same one I don't think it will be coming out before that. I could be wrong though.
