All I can say is thank god for reviews!

I remember back in the day, before EF, I would decide to purchase a toy on the basis of the advertising on the product which would usually market it as powerful.

I quickly learned that powerful meant...a marketing technique to sell a cheap product that is not really that powerful.

Have you ever had this experience? Did you learn very quickly to rely on reviews or on your won judgement? How has that worked out for you?

I have a large selection of junk. And I do mean junk in the nicest way possible. We had to move to my in-laws for a little while and I will always remember the day my father-in-law said he heard a noise in the trash. Lets just say I made a bee line back to the bin to remove the toy I have forgotten to take the batteries out of. Disaster averted but honestly that beautiful toy cost me over 90 dollars and was not even able to be admired. Now I read everything and so far so good. Can not wait for my next order.

Totally my life story.

Luckily, I've found some reviewers that rate products similarly to what I think the product rating should be, so when they say something is going to burn my clit off, or isn't strong enough for my clit to even look up, I can apply that to how my body will react.

I laugh when I think of some of my first toys. The box always promised super orgasms but reality was something else. Some just didn't work, the batteries were not strong enough for the motor or my Kegels just stopped the motor on a weak rabbit type vibe.
Decent toys are more expensive but reviews have always helped lead me in the right direction..

I've always ignored on-package advertising.

I know there were a few times I got burned on a product, before Eden, because I didn't research it. If you're putting something in your body or putting a body part in something, it's good idea to research it.

I got pretty lucky before I came here, and only had a few toys, and they weren't all that loud. I had your standard traditional vibe, and it worked great for me. I had the Layaspot that didn't get used very often, and I had a corded bullet that definitely wasn't quiet, but it wasn't quite loud either.

There have been times I've been burned by reviews too, because they weren't all that great and didn't seem to cover how loud something was. Or I didn't believe it was as loud as they were saying. I've definitely gotten a few things that I'm like, "no way can I use this unless I'm completely alone in the house."

A good indicator is the the battery count and type. The higher the available power the more power - but there are exceptions. Even reviews have to be evaluated with a critical eye. I've seen very weak toys get high power ratings. Do your home work - but don't be surprised by a disappointment or 2 or ...

I can make any toy work for me, so it's not the power I have had an issue with at times.
It's more so the quality or the noise but that has slowed down since joining Eden.
I find it very hard to buy from other places now cause none of them give enough detail on the product. I have only found that here

I can hardly buy a toy without a review anymore because I rely on good reviews. I used to fall for the ads and they never worked. It had me believing that I just might never be able to have orgasms. And then I found EF (and the Hitachi) and everything changed. This site has been a miracle for me and so are the reviews!

Our local kink shop would take them out of the box and test them with fresh batteries before letting you pay for it, and if it wasn't as strong as it claimed, they would DOA it and warn the next person interested in one about it's lack of performance. (Yes, you could put the batteries in and test it yourself if you didn't want them to touch it, or request they wear gloves.)

I have really learned to rely on reviews. Over time, I've also learned which reviewers here have similar tastes to mine in toys, and some reviewers will also compare toys to other toys I'm familiar with - so all that helps. I'd really be lost without all the Eden reviewers!

I'm somewhat an oddball to the toy industry. When I choose a product to please my wife, yes, I look at the reviews on it. When I ask to review a product, I prefer to do a product that has had poor reviews to find out why. I did a masturbator from Cal. My conclusion was improper usage. I found what they claimed was what was delivered.

I really don't look at ads, I look at the actual specs and read reviews. Also, if I know the company making the toy and own other stuff from them, I can usually judge it well.

What makes me sad though, is relying on good reviews, and then people saying its powerful when it totally isn't! It usually doesn't happen, but sometimes... so disappointing!!

But normally I read an abundance of reviews before I buy, even then it's always a 50/50. What works for you is not going to work for me. So it goes.
