In the strip clubs of the French Quarter, dark corners were the most expensive seats. There, if the price was right anything could happen; or could it?
With the corked popped and glasses in hand, they head to the back for some fun and excitement. Weaving through the tables, they follow the waitress to a dark corner. A few tables away from the men’s bathroom, this is definitely not where he thought they were going.
She entices him to sit down and relax. Soothing his fears, she reaffirms that now she is all his. With a smooth talking tongue and roaming hands, she convinces him that they are going to party and have fun.
Settling into their spot, she makes sure to sit up close and personal with her new best friend. Sipping champagne, she makes small talk while ensuring that he is completely aroused. Usually, it is around this point that she excuses herself to go “slip into something more comfortable”.
She leaves her customer in the capable hands of the waitress; she has no fear of another dancer moving in on the party. It is the waitress’s job to keep him entertained. The waitress buzzes around keeping him comfortable and relaxed while the dancer is gone. To loosen up his thinking and his wallet, the bartender will send over a beer spiked with vodka. Why vodka? Vodka is strong, odorless, and tasteless; the perfect choice to get someone drunk quickly. Fresh cups and drinks for the table along with a tall glass of ginger ale for the lady, the waitress does all she can to keep him happy.
In the meantime, the dancer is off in the dressing room freshening up for her date and giving her partner the scoop. Every dancer has a partner; someone whom they can work with and trust. Pulling off a completely successful hustle can often hinge on bringing another girl into your party. Men love the idea of being with two bi-sexual women. In the world of strippers, this can be capitalized on. Soon, the faithful waitress comes into the dressing room and gives them an update. With a quick bump or two of white courage, they are off to play.
With a big smile she comes back to the party. Introducing her partner as the “girlfriend”, they sit up close and personal letting him know that they are hot and ready. With a few smooth lines about how they have to wait a while before they can split, he is right in the palm of their hands. They giggle and rub against each other. The waitress brings over another beer and more ginger ale, it is a party and they are there to pamper him and make him feel on top of the world.
Half way through the bottle, the dancers appear to be feeling the effects of all the tiny bubbles. Or are they? The waitress has been bringing glasses of seemingly harmless ginger ale. The dancers say it tastes nice with champagne. However, in reality this is a spit cup. A dancer will take a drink of champagne and then pick up the ginger ale and spit the sip into the straw. The waitress is ever vigilant to keep this glass fresh and the dancer will always keep it close at hand so that the customer will never pick it up. Another trick that is often used to get rid of unwanted champagne is, the waitress will pour champagne into the ice bucket when pouring a glass. While this is going on, the dancer will kiss or use another form of distraction to the the customer's attention.
With the bottle quickly running out, it is time to step up the game and push for another bottle or two. More teasing and touching, more promises, and a bit of luck are all in full force. Many times, a great show can lead to more fun for the night. An erotic show with two women making-out, is hard to resist. However, dances back then were very different than lap dances today. During this time, lap dances were illegal. Dances were given on table tops or next to the table on top of a wooden cube. As you can imagine cubes were the preferred way give what we called a “personal dance” since they were lower to ground. With the limited number of cubes in high demand, an extra tip to the bartender is required to commandeer two cubes.
Using two cubes to make a stage right in front of him, they dance, touch and tease each other with perfection. Their bodies are hot and he is ready to have them on his bed. With an ever vigilant bouncer nearby, he knows that is going to be hard for him to see or do much more. Leaning in, the girls ask for a tip for the bouncer to turn the other way, and he is more than happy to oblige. Now, the dancers can rub against him from time to time or give him a flash of something juicier. Sometimes, if he has tips, they will rub against him more, do more to each other, or even let him cop a quick feel. Pushing for the party to continue until it is time to get off work, they get him to give in and order two more bottles.
Once the night begins to wind down, it is time for the bar tab to be settled. It is not easy to get a man to open his wallet for a couple half-naked women. This takes a hustle that is well perfected. Everything comes at a price in the strip club. The champagne, dances, beer, vodka, and tips for everyone; it all adds up quickly. Although it may sound crazy, I have seen parties go well up over $2,000.00 many times a week. How do you get a man to sign a credit card slip for that much money or more? It is easier than you may think. When the waitress brings the slip, she will often hold her hand over the amount. With only the line to be signed left exposed, the dancer will kiss and nibble on his ear or even stroke his manhood while he signs. She will do anything to distract him and let him know that they are getting ready to head out to his hotel.
With the bar tab settled, she will excuse herself to go get dressed. The bouncer now steps in and tells him that he has to wait outside. In the dressing room, the girls giggle and laugh with their bottles stacked up like badges of honor. Getting dressed in street clothes, the girls discuss where they are going after work. Before they go, they stop by the bar to get their pay. With a champagne party comes a lot of money; $100.00 for each bottle sold, $20.00 a table dance, and $5.00 a cocktail, plus any tips hustled on the credit card. One party can easily add up to a $500.00 pay out per dancer. It seems like a lot of money to walk out with. But wait, it is time to start paying out tips. Everyone gets a cut, the bartender gets 10% plus a bit extra, the DJ gets 5%, the waitress gets a tip, and the bouncer gets 5% plus a special tip. Being known as a good tipper is how dancers ensure that they will get special privileges when needed, so it is important to never skimp on the tips.
Now with everything settled, it is time to head out. But there is one problem, the customer waiting outside of the door. Or is he? The special tip for the bouncer is payment to get rid of your waiting customer. The bouncer will do everything possible to send him walking down the street. In a group or with her “boyfriend”, the dancer can safely leave the club. Also, the bouncer is always sure to escort the dancers to a waiting taxi at the corner. No matter how short of a distance to the next stop for the night is, the girls always take a taxi. In the Quarter the taxi is a quick and easy escape.
Many men have waited outside for their dream date, only to find themselves stumbling back to the hotel drunk and alone. He has been hustled by the “lady in red”.
