The parents of an 8-year-old boy are suing Burris Laboratory School in Indiana for allowing four 8-year-old classmates to force their son to engage in sexual acts. They apparently acted out scenes from pornography, which they downloaded on the school’s computers and iPads. The alleged abuse occurred almost a dozen times at the school in 2011, while a teacher turned a blind eye to the situation. The victim’s parents became aware of the situation when a fellow classmate’s parents called to tell them about the sexual abuse in December 2011.
The teacher, along with Ball State University, which runs the school, are named in the suit. Ball State vigorously denies the claims as unwarranted allegations, and states student safety is its utmost important commitment. The lawsuit claims the teacher allowed students to take long breaks to the bathroom unsupervised, where the victim was forced to provide and receive oral sex and inappropriate touching. The sexual abuse also occurred in the classroom and library. When students tried to speak up about the abuse they witnessed, the teacher allegedly told them to stop tattling on their classmates. The suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages. What the heck is going on at that school?
Down in Pennsylvania, Penn State college football assistant coach and infamous pedophile and child molester Jerry Sandusky stood before a judge to finally learn his fate. For the 45 horrific counts of sexual abuse against minors he committed, he received a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of 60 years behind bars.
The original 52 charges range from involuntary deviate sexual intercourse to indecent assault, unlawful contact with minors, endangering welfare of children, corruption of minors, and criminal attempt to commit indecent assault on a total of ten victims, who were as young as 8 years old when the assaults occurred. Four of the charges were dismissed, he was found not guilty of three charges, and guilty for all the rest.
At his age of 68 years, this pretty much guarantees he dies in jail. During his personal statement, he rambled on, still claiming his innocence, even after eight of his victims testified in court against him. He must spend at least 30 years of his sentence at a state prison before being eligible for parole. He was also designated a sexually violent predator. He abused those that trusted him. He took away their childhoods, and at least now, the law was able to take away the rest of his life.
