Sexmas

It seems to be a popular subject on Eden, whether or not it’s appropriate to give a sex toy as a gift. Now, I’ve read a few of the articles and (unsurprisingly) most people are in favor of gifting sex toys. It’s hardly shocking that most people, on a sex toy site, would be OK with giving sex toys as gifts. There is lots of talk about knowing what is the appropriate relationship to give gifts in. I would also like to add that, someone needs to consider whether it is an appropriate holiday to give a sex toy gift on.

Call me old-fashioned or a prude, but I can't see myself giving anyone a sex toy for Christmas. That's not to say that I wouldn't ever give someone a toy as a gift, but I certainly wouldn't do it for Christmas. Personally, I don't see myself as a prude. After all, I am an active member of this site (and I am quite a bit more open about sex than many people)! I love toys and I love sex, and I like talking about them both. Now, I don't want to be one of those "keep the CHRIST in Christmas" type of people, but as a Christian, I do feel like it's slightly disrespectful to give a sex toy for Christmas. The holiday is a celebration of the birth of Jesus, our lord and savior. I can't help but feel that giving someone a dildo for Christmas is just somehow... wrong. I would (and actually have, in previous years) given people sex toys, lubricants, condoms, and lingerie for their birthdays. A birthday is a day about celebrating that person. It’s all about them! Giving them a little toy, or something else, is a great idea. Christmas, on the other hand, is a day about Jesus and the beginning of a religion and it is very important to millions of people. I really don’t see sex toys, and a day about Jesus, going hand in hand. So, while I’m not opposed to giving sex toys as a gift, I don’t see them as something I would ever give as Christmas presents.
