If you're someone who's looking for a spa quality massage candle that is safe for sensitive skin, then look no further...the Dona Massage Candle is what you're looking for. It's all natural, cruelty free, paraben free, phthalates free, and travel safe. With three wonderful aromas there's a little something for everyone, for up to 30 hours worth of fun!
Before the candle is lit, it's a solid mass that feels like a hard piece of cheese. It's smooth to the touch, incredibly silky, and leaves a little bit of a velvety feeling on your fingers. The color of the candle is a light ivory shade. Once the candle is lit, it takes just a few minutes for a little pool of liquid to form, and the color of the liquid is more of a light yellow.
The liquid is runny in nature and easily drips from your fingers. The consistency is like baby oil, but without the greasy feeling. It quickly thickens once it's applied to the skin, forming a nice creamy texture for a massage. Be very careful pouring the liquid on the skin, avoiding any spilling of the liquid on the sheets as it would stain. This massage candle is soy based, which is wonderful for those who have sensitive skin. Once massaged into the skin, it leaves a wonderful creamy, soft, and velvety texture to the skin. There's no worry of it becoming sticky, nor is it greasy in nature. It starts off as being nice and slick, and absorbs into the skin wonderfully. No need to wash off after, as it will absorb into the skin.
The candle should be lit for roughly 30 minutes before using the liquid. When you're ready for a massage, put out the flame and wait at least 30 seconds before pouring the oil. If you pour it right away without waiting, you run the risk of burning yourself and the person you're massaging. It is quite easy to pour the oil from the candle; just make sure you're careful not to get it on the sheets or clothing.

When it comes to the aroma of the massage candle, there are three scents to choose from: Blue Lotus, Acai, and Mangosteen. The fragrance that I selected was the Blue Lotus. The aroma is exactly that, the smell of a blue lotus flower. As soon as you open the lid to the candle, the wonderful smell hits your nose. It's not overpowering at all, and is quite mild. Lighting the candle, a small pool of liquid starts forming within a few minutes. When lit, the smell slightly intensifies, but still isn't overpowering. The aroma will lightly fill the room, leaving you with a relaxing atmosphere. This scent truly awakens your senses, and automatically has a relaxing nature to it.
Using the massage oil on the skin, it nicely massages and absorbs into the skin. It will leave your skin kissed with a hint of blue lotus. Once absorbed into the skin, you will only smell it if you put your nose close to the area.
When it comes to the taste of this candle and massage oil, it is incredibly light in nature. I was quite surprised that it didn't taste like perfume, but I guess that's because it's soy based and all natural. The taste is a little sweet in nature, but I highly recommend that you don't eat, drink, or lick this product, as it's not intended for that. If you were to lick someone's skin after using this product, you don't have to worry about them tasting bad.
I have tried quite a few massage candles, and I have to say that this one is excellent for those with sensitive skin. With it being made of soy, it's more forgiving on the skin, and it's less likely that it would cause any skin irritations. The candle is long lasting and can be used for multiple uses. The massage oil is long lasting, and will leave your skin silky smooth without the need to wash it off after. If you're looking for a top quality massage candle that is spa quality, then the Dona Massage Candle is a must try!
This massage candle should last up to 30 hours.
When it comes to the packaging of the Dona Massage Candle, it's fully recyclable. It comes in a nice little tin can that measures 2" high and almost 3" in diameter. The tin has a pretty sticker label that wraps all the way around the tin. The label is purple in color with a black lace design on top. The writing is in white, which helps it pop nicely. The front shows the "DONA by JO" at the top. Right beside the logo/title it states: "blue lotus", and "Massage Candle". All writing is written in white lettering.
On the side it says: "an aphrodisiac infused ritual". At the bottom it states: "4oz, 113.4g", and four symbols: "paraban free", "cruelty free", "natural", and "petry. deriv. free". These would stand for: No Petrochemicals, No Phthalates, No Triclosan, and Parabens free.
The back of the tin contains the product description, instructions, ingredients, and company information. The writing on the back contains a solid black background, with white writing.
Ingredients:
Glycine Soja Wax, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Oil, Laminaria Digitata (Algae) Extract, Nymphaea Caerulea (Blue Lotus) Flower, Fragrance.
The bottom of the tin has a sticker, which includes full instructions as well as a warning regarding the use of the candle.

With this massage candle, it states that it's supposed to have an aphrodisiac type of effect to it. It sure does awaken the senses, and makes for a wonderful at home spa experience.
With the many different massage candles that I currently own, this has to be one of my favorites. I love that this comes in a tin with a lid, which makes this item perfect for traveling. It's easy to toss in your purse, knapsack, luggage, etc. It lasts for multiple uses, and it seems to keep going. I've used this candle half a dozen times already, and it barely looks like it's gone down at all. Just keep in mind between each use to cut down the wick, to prevent soot in the massage oil.
I have sensitive skin and suffer from psoriasis, and this seems to be the only massage candle that can be used on my back, arms, and legs. Normally all the other massage products only my fiance gets to enjoy, as they leave me with itchy skin. That's not the case with the Dona Massage Candle, as it's mild enough that it didn't cause any irritation to my skin.
The only downfall about this product is I wish that there was a little bit of a spout to make it easier to pour the liquid. That's just minor, and something for Dona to think about for future products. With this being all natural, cruelty free, and safe for sensitive skin, this is my number one massage candle product to date. This truly is a spa quality type of product, and worth every penny.
