Overall this is an excellent toy for those looking for a non-realistic dildo. It's easy to use both in a harness and one's hand, and it's obvious some thought was put into improving on existing designs already out. The visual detractors do not affect the toy's performance and do not take enough away from this toy to give it four stars. The silicone used in the Toy Five medium is neither soft nor hard. It has some give to it but is not squishy and can't be bent without a bit of force. It has a silky feel to it almost identical to the silicone found in the Nexus Silo. It does still tend to collect lint and hair but not as much as some. It does not have a smell when brand new, nor does it retain smells after cleaning with soap and water. It has no taste either. The Rose color reviewed is very different in color than pictured on the website. Here is a picture of what it actually looks like. It's a very pretty color in person and combined with the silky silicone makes for an overall nice impression.
This impression is marred a little bit by the fact that the process used to create the toy caused a seam to be created. It can very easily be felt on the bottom and would have likely caused discomfort for some people. To avoid this, it appears a razor blade or something similar was used to cut away this seam on the part that actually gets inserted. The problem is its very easy to mess up with a razor blade and there were a couple spots (here and here) where the cut wasn't perfect. As can be seen here, the rest of the cut was very good with the seam only being easily visible in a few parts and not felt during use at all.
The Toy Five states that it was designed in Paris (crafted in People's Republic of China). There are several things in the design that show a clear understanding of how users plan to use this toy. The biggest proof of this is probably in the base which is thick and sturdy making it easy to hand hold. It is also cone shaped which allows it to still have a snug fit in harnesses that may have a larger hole diameter such as 2". The shape of the dildo is also quite interesting. Unlike most other dildos that are either completely straight or have a fairly consistent curve, The Toy Five medium is straight for the first few inches before it makes an abrupt change in angle upward. This helps to provide a little more stimulation versus a completely straight dildo while still remaining very non-phallic in shape.
The toy has a fairly discreet look to it. Unfortunately the company's name is cut into the base taking away from this somewhat. The base is very sturdy and the toy easily sits up right on its own. The base has no suction effect even on smooth surfaces.
The size of this toy is good for a variety of groups. Warm-up vaginally maybe required for those that are buying their first toy. For those more experienced, this shouldn't be an issue though - while not super wide in diameter, it is wide enough to provide stimulation vaginally. This toy is probably too large for those looking for their first anal toy. For those a little more experienced, this toy should be manageable with some warmup and provide a good size for pegging or similar activities.
Overall this toy does very well. It's hard to find any real faults with it. It works great hand held both while using it on your own and while using it on a partner. It's a good size for both anal and vaginal play and the end is angled enough to provide prostate or g-spot stimulation. Some people may wish that it were a little bit larger or more stimulating but there are already many products on the market available for this. The chief competition for this toy will likely be the Tantus Silk Large, Silk Medium and Leisure. All of which have complaints about the base not being thick enough. Outside of these, there really aren't many alternatives, which means the The Toy Five Medium is a welcome addition. The one thing that would have been nice is if the silicone had a little less grip to it. Despite the velvety silicone, it does require a decent amount of lubricant to overcome the grip. The length may also not be long enough for some positions when used in a harness. In this case, the Tantus Silk Large may be better.
The Toy Five medium is made 100% out of silicone and has no phthalates. This makes cleaning very easy with only soap and water needed for regular cleaning. If using between partners, sterilization is recommended and can be done either through boiling the toy or soaking it in a bleach solution for three minutes. Water based lubricants can be used; however silicone lubes should be avoided as there is possibility of a reaction between the silicone in the toy and the silicone in the lube. For this reason, you should also not store this toy touching any other silicone toys.
The product's packaging is not suitable for storage and will likely fall apart quickly as can be seen here. The product is merely lying inside, visible through the clear opening on the front. This combined with the verbiage make this packaging far from discreet. Also listed on the front are the dimensions of the toy. The side has some information about the company and the back has a picture of a woman with some information on the product.
Obviously the biggest competition for this toy is the Tantus Silk Medium and Large. I don't have the Silk Large but I do have the Medium. Comparing the specs of this and the Tantus Silk Medium, it looks like these two are about the same thickness. In actuality, the Tantus Silk Medium is 1.25" in diameter according to Tantus and the Toy Five Medium is 1.38" according to the toy's packaging. Here is a photo of the two side by side and here they are lying down with them positioned to show how much of the length is insertable. While the Toy Five Medium is much thicker, it's actually just a little bit shorter on the insertable portion. Because of its smaller diameter, the Tantus Silk Medium is also easier to bend. This is with the same pressure as the photo before. This extra stiffness makes it easier to insert anally while still not feeling too rigid. The silicone also has a very different feel to it with Tantus' silicone grabbing your hand and the Toy Five having a silky feel to it. Overall I like the Toy Five Medium better (in large part due to its improved base). It may be a bit short for some positions when used in a harness but overall it's a well made toy.
