As with all Tantus toys, the toy is made of pure platinum silicone, one of the safest materials for a sex toy. This hypoallergenic toy is non-porous, as well as being latex and phthalate-free. It does not have a taste or smell, but provides a soft, velvety, semi-matte surface.
The level of give is better perceived at the very tip and the neck area, so that the toy can easily bend and not poke during insertion. Even if bendable, the body has an appreciable firmness to it so that every wave will be easily noticed.
The shape of this toy is just perfect for getting used to larger toys; since it is gradually tapered, you are not forced to get the large part in unless you are ready for it. As the neck of the toy has a medium-sized diameter, it is meant for at least intermediate play for anal. For vaginal play, I could recommended for everyone, except that its wide diameter would not satisfy people who are specifically looking for a large toy.
The Asteroid can travel with you, as it will not trigger any alarms at the airports, but it really does look like a sex toy, even if it isn't realistic.
I expected it to be great as a butt plug, and the feeling of being filled did feel great. It didn't take much to reach the largest part, but it took a while longer to get it all in. So, even if the toy makes the progression to a larger size easier, it does not make the process faster. You still need to relax, take your time, and adjust slowly to that new size.
It felt really good for vaginal play, as the widest bump would sit right on the g-spot, and slightly pushing it in and out was all it needed to accurately stimulate the spot. The tip would not poke, and having a toy conically-shaped really enhanced the feeling for being gently stretched to accommodate a toy.
However, I think the base might not be best for long term wear. The neck is not that pronounced compared with the rest of the toy, and it may slide out if your muscles are relaxed enough. Also, since the base is high and large, sitting on it pushes it further in, and may not be the most pleasant experience for everyone. Once it is inside, I do not always like to feel a constant pressure coming from the bottom of the toy.
As for harness play, we did not try to push the toy all the way in but used the toy as a teaser. It can be gently pushed inside so that the body will just push it out again.
Silicone is really easy to clean by using a mild soap and water, and it can be sanitized with rubbing alcohol or with a 3 to 5-minute soak in boiling water. However, note that silicone tends to pick up lint easily and should be air-dried and stored in a lint-free bag, made of plastic or satin for instance.
This material is only compatible with water-based lubricant, as a silicone-based one could damage the silicone.
As previously mentioned, the shape of this toy isn't new, but the coloring is. And quite honestly, I do not believe I have had the chance to see a silicone toy so pretty. The change in color is gradual, and no toys will be exactly alike. For instance, my toy only has a thin layer of pink at the bottom, and the one on display has a much wider pink layer. I can easily say that the pictures do not do it justice, as there is some transparency in the sparkly silicone that lets you see the patterns inside the silicone, as well as notice when a color is covering another one.
