The RO-150mm Slimline Bullet is a luxurious, elegant multi-function vibrator. This toy is what it is - a quiet, moderately strong, small-sized, non-intimidating beginner toy. It's no Hitachi Magic Wand, but it performs its job well. The pros far outweigh the cons. If you are new to toys or seek a gentle warm-up, the Slimline is the one for you! This toy is made of hard Plastic that looks like smooth, shiny gold. It has no taste, smell, or texture to it. Plastic is non-porous, hypo-allergenic, and latex- and phthalates-free.
The smooth texture provides no extra stimulation and can make maneuvering very difficult with lubrication on your hands. Pressing the control button becomes quite the task if you're not careful with the amount of lube you use. Thankfully, the toy's non-textured surface requires very little lubrication to provide its signature slippery feel. It has very little traction, which feels quite different from the grip of matte materials such as Silicone or Velvet Cote.
I love the design of the Slim. Its shiny gold surface looks elegant and classy. It looks like a miniature version of a larger, traditional vibrator. At slightly more than 0.5" in diameter, with a gently tapered tip, it is comparable to the width and shape of my index finger. Although it is quite a bit longer than my finger, at 6" from base to tip, it closely resembles a thick pen. Nearly all of the Slim's length can be inserted. Advanced users may find it underwhelming, but its narrow width makes it extremely non-intimidating for newcomers to the world of insertable toys. If you can slide a finger inside of yourself, you can certainly enjoy the Slim!
I do think that it is fairly discreet. It is small and lightweight, making it easy to hide in a purse, desk drawer, luggage, or bedside table. At first glance, it truly might pass for a pen, especially with the label embossed on its side and its push button control on the base. However, the controls are quite sensitive, so you risk accidentally turning on the vibrations if you travel with the Slim without removing its batteries.
Inserting and removing the batteries is a very simple process. You twist off the base, insert them + side first, and then replace the base. Righty tighty, lefty loosey! Two N batteries are included, inside of the toy, with a small paper disc preventing a connection from draining the batteries until you open it for the first time and remove the paper. The battery compartment itself is a snug fit. The batteries are somewhat difficult to remove, requiring that you whack the body of the toy against your palm until they slide out enough to grab ahold of them. That can't be good for the life of your toy! However, a snug fit also means that the batteries don't rattle around and that the toy is very quiet.
The Slim has moderately powerful, buzzy vibrations. Although the vibrations translate throughout the length of the toy, they are noticeably centered in the last few inches at its tip. A brief, gentle press of the soft button on the toy's base will turn it on and cycle through the settings. Holding the button down for two full seconds will shut it off. When you turn it on again, the vibrations begin at the first setting, rather than picking up where you left off. It has five functions, which are as follows:
1 – low and steady
2 – high and steady
3 – slow pulsing
4 – medium pulsing
5 – fast pulsing
I enjoy the high and steady setting the most, but the various pulses are wonderful for teasing and building up to a stronger setting or a stronger toy entirely. No matter what setting it's on, the Slim is very quiet and completely waterproof. It can be used in the shower or the bathtub. I wish I would have had this toy when I lived in my college dormitory. I could have used it easily while my roommate was sleeping or even in the communal showers, with other people around! Under the covers, it is just barely audible. It cannot be heard above a fan or music quietly running. It certainly would not be heard through a closed door.
Since the Slim is waterproof and made of fairly non-porous plastic, caring for it is very simple. You can simply wash it with soap and water or toy cleaner spray/wipes. It can even be disinfected with alcohol or a 10% bleach solution, but it cannot be boiled or washed in the dishwasher, which would damage its external surface and its internal mechanical components. Make note of the embossed lettering on the shaft of the toy if you use it for insertion. The imprint is fairly shallow and should not pose a problem when cleaning.
Plastic is compatible with any type of lubricant (water-, oil-, or silicone-based) and the toy can safely be stores among other items without risking damage. Toss it in your toy box or in your underwear drawer or keep it in the lovely box it came in.
The Slim comes in a lovely black cardboard box, with a lid that flips open. The lid has a window on the front that frames the toy nicely, nestled in a velvety plastic bed. Beneath the toy's bed is a very minimal instruction manual, with care and cleaning directions. It could absolutely be used as a gift or storage box.
Initially, I absolutely loved this item. I adored the classy packaging, the sleek golden surface, the tapered tip, the simple controls...Unfortunately, the love affair ended immediately when I realized that it takes 1.5V N batteries. This item is incorrectly listed as being powered by two watch batteries. In fact, it is powered by two 1.5V N batteries. This is a deal-breaker for me. I do not and will not keep N batteries on hand and I am certainly not going to buy them specifically for only one item. What if it breaks? Then I'll have useless and pricey N batteries that I cannot use to power my television remote, my clock, or my other vibrating toys!
My battery preferences aside, this toy is what it is - a luxurious, elegant, non-intimidating beginner toy. It performs its job well. I don't have enough room to list all of the pros.
