The Lia mini bullet is made of food-grade, Hypo-allergenic, Latex free, Phthalates free matte plastic (not shiny). The matte plastic has a powdery soft feeling and is completely smooth with no texture. It receives a rating of 8 on the safety scale. There is no drag to the plastic and has a very soft texture. The bullet and controller are hard and not squishy, but the cord is very flexible. If someone likes plushy toys this item may not be for them because it has no give.
The material has no smell unless put right up to your nose. It also doesn't collect dust, lint, or hairs.
The Lia's cord is 30 inches long when measured from end to end. The bullet is just under 2 inches in length, 1.25 inches in circumference, and .75 inches in diameter. The controller is about 4 inches in length, 2 inches in circumference, and just under an inch in diameter. The controller has a flashing LED light that corresponds with the vibration pattern.
The controller is hotdog shaped and the bullet is like a mini sausage. There is no texture to the bullet but there is one seam around it that does not seem to be intended for stimulation and does not provide any stimulation. The bullet provides pinpoint stimulation so it only works on one small area.
The controller detaches from the cord and bullet. When detached the controller would look like a very simple mp3 player to someone who doesn't know what it is based on the one button and cord hole that looks like a headphone jack. If one buys multiple Lias in different colors the controllers and bullets can be traded to create different color sets. Fun!
I personally love the design and find it easy to use but find the cord a nuisance but that is because I don't like cords. If it was wireless it would be perfect.
There are 10 functions, 3 increasing solid vibrations, and 7 vibration patterns. The vibrations are located in only the bullet and are a bit buzzy but don't cause an itchy feeling. The vibrations do not travel through the cord and cannot be felt in the controller. The variety of the 7 vibration patterns is great, they are all uniquely different and can be felt quite clearly.
Below is a list of the 10 settings the Lia provides:
1 Low steady vibrations
2 Medium steady vibrations
3 High steady vibrations
4 Ascending pulses (low vibrations to high vibrations)
5 Beating pulses
6 Round Pulses (Like what police sirens)
7 Fast even pulses
8 "jittery" pulses
9 Long medium pulses
10 Long low pulses
The Lia is very easy to use! To work the device there is a one touch button on the top of the controller with an LED light. To change vibration patterns simply push the button to cycle through the 10 functions. Along with the 10 different functions the LED light blinks along with the vibration patterns. To turn off the device hold down the control button for a few seconds until the LED light turns off.
I give the Lia a bee rating of 3 as it is loud but will not be heard behind closed doors. I also gave it a vroom rating of 4 because the vibrations are quite powerful for the size of the device but on the lowest vibration setting it would receive a 2.
The Lia is not water proof and should not be used in or around water as water can easily get in the controller and ruin it. if the controller does not work the bullet will be useless.
The Lia requires one AA battery. The cap of the controller twists off and the positive end of the battery will be inserted first. To screw the cap back on just screw it back on but notice the different sized notches on the cap and base. If the cap is forced on when the notches are not aligned it can cause damage to the Lia.
The Lia can be stored in its original box but is easily stored in silk bags and other small boxes or drawers.
To clean this device simple soap and water will work but be careful not to get moisture in the device. There are a few ceases that should receive attention while cleansing as well.
As for lube water based, oil based, and silicone based lubes will all work.
The Lia came in a clear plastic box with instructions on how to insert the battery and turn on/off the device. It can be reused for storage but I am not. The plastic scratchy sound the box makes is irritating and can make it difficult to get to the toy.
The back of the box has a few bullet points about the device in English and 4 other languages.
I had a great experience with this item. The varied vibration pattern gave me some exceptional feelings and the silky plastic didn't irritate my skin.
I got a kick out of the LED light as well, it gave me a visual connection to the vibration patterns I was feeling. Some may just consider that a battery drainer though.
The only irritating thing about my experience was the cord getting in the was and causing distractions.
