My boss wrote this article where she talks about how a friend was diagnosed with a weakened involuntary sphincter muscle because of years of anal sex without lube. Cringe-inducing, I know!

Couldn't imagine not using lubricant! I always use anal lubricant as well as it is thicker.

The rectum walls are much thinner than the vagina which is designed for penetration. Anal lubricant provides extra cushion.

This is a good attitude to have here. Yes, there are some very NEW to everything folks here, I have noticed that. We should all be kind and educating...but for the most part, I think people were. Just that some are very passionate about this one topic.

Um, yes... are you crazy? yes!

And spit counts in my book, you just need lots of it, maybe more than one person can reasonably produce. Spit is nature's lube. Just make sure it's relatively clean spit i.e. you haven't recently been eating or drinking anything (besides water of course)

I do not use any. I like to use spit. By the time he puts it inside I have enough natural lube to fill a swimming pool. (Ok not really but it makes me flood!) My vagina leaks enough natural lube for me to be good.

Anal sex is pretty dangerous without lube. Since the anus doesn't self-lubricate you really NEED to use lube to make it pleasurable and to prevent anal fissures. Anal sex is one of my favorite things in the world but I always make sure to do it right with lots of lube and warm up.

Same thing here! Until I met my current boyfriend (and incredible love (: ) I hadn't wanted to ever try it. Currently rethinking that idea But LUBE all the time.

And I agree with another poster, let's just answer the question with some understanding ok? This is EF after all, the place of ultimate understanding!

OMG yes! Now that I know the difference. I used to use spit and/or vaginal secretions, but lube makes it SO much more comfortable. And it is WAY safer.

As a side note, I also found that using an anal plug helps. We put it in during fore play and it helps the sphincter muscles relax so that anal is SO much easier and pleasurable!
