Why wait?

I have a policy against have sex with someone that I want to date, but am not dating yet. I end up "settling" for sex, when I really want more. They think its just a casual encounter, but the sex is actually making me more attached, and I end up in an awkward unrequited romance situation. I actually turned down sex with a guy I'm attracted to recently, because I liked him too much.
