I like them both, but I currently have dogs.
All the cats I have owned in the past 7 years have all either been psychotic and attacked me or my kids, or they claw up the carpet trying to get to rooms they aren't suppose to be in, or they decide after a few months that they don't like litter boxes and would rather potty in the bottom of the kids closets.

Love dogs - hate cats. We just lost a dog we had for 14 years. No pets right now and no real desire to take on another one.

I love dogs when they are someone elses. Don't get me wrong, their adorable and worth all the trouble, I just can't stand picking up poop or having to carry bags for picking up poop when I walk. I love cats too, especially when they are toilet trained as mine is. I love only needing to feed and water with an occasional brushing.
On a side note, I am allergic to both, but thankfully not so allergic a low shedding cat won't work for me, so that is what I have (a Russian Blue for those who are wondering). Any siamese or siamese strain of cat, as RB's are, will likely be low shedding, however it is individual, just as with low shedding dogs.

I like both cats and dogs, but dogs tend to scare me. This is mainly as I was bitten by a dog (right on my jaw; had to get stitches)..

So...yeah, I'm a cat person.

We've got two cats right now, so I guess you can call me a cat person

But we'd definitely get a dog if we were in a space where that was possible. Right now we're renting and the landlord doesn't want us to have a dog, so that's kind of the end of that. The last town we lived in we had a couple who had 3 dogs that we dog-sat for all the time, at least once a month if not more, and we both really liked that. Having part-time dogs like that was possibly even better than owning our own!
