Orlando Bloom, yes. Legolas....nah. I like his character in the books but I didn't really enjoy him in the movie.

LOL Well, he doesn't have sex in the books either. They aren't for everyone. They are slow, and can be hard to get into. But I'm just that big of a nerd, and read them all and a few others by Tolkien before Fellowship of the Ring even came out in theaters. In my opinion it's the supplemental reading that really adds to his character.

Orlando Bloom is so god awfully unattractive to me and Legolas is just as an unattractive. I like that he is intelligent and doesn't back down but that baby face and smooth shiny skin does nothing for me. Give me Aragorn and his manliness any day!

I agree, Tolkien is a little bit of work to get into, but Oh My what an experience when you finally adapt to the slightly archaic Queen's English and get into the stories!

My 11 year old reads them, and my other kids read them at 11, 12 and older (they've all read them repeatedly) so I say to go ahead and read them.

Just take your time, and don't get discouraged with the first few pages. I prefer starting with The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and then reading The Hobbit and the other stuff. But,that is my preference.
