Can you tell if you'll like a vibrator as soon as you turn it on?

I just hate the ones that sound like something is "loose" in the motor. I dont know why, but when they sound more like a weed wacker, it kinda creeps me out!!!

Yes usually. Right now I like something quiet, I was really bummed when I got a toy I wanted and the battery rattles around inside My fiance put some rolled up paper around the battery and that helped a little. I also like something soft/velvety.

The vibration power is easy to sample with hand or fingers first. But if the vibe comes with an unusual shape it's harder to determine how it'll feel in use.

I have had a few vibes I thought I would not enjoy when I opened the box or started them up, but was pleasantly wrong...once really putting them through their paces.

Yep. Mostly I can tell by just testing on my finger if its too buzzy or rumbly for me.

Usually, yeah. The quality of the vibrations (buzzy vs. rumbly) is almost more important to me than the actual power.

I usually can tell in my hand but then the extra features surprise me like the curving of my G-Ki totally blew me away after I inserted it and started breathing heavy almost instantly. I didn't expect that kind of reaction.

I generally can tell if its vibes are gonna be my bag or not. When I first get a new toy, I got through the functions too, and I'll know.

That's the one advantage to the high end brick and mortar stores. I've perhaps overpaid for a few toys because I wanted to handle them first, and then I feel obligated to buy them there once I've made the trip and bothered the salesperson. But at least I knew I wasn't spending big bucks for buzzy vibes.

Here's a tip a woman working in a toy store gave me: turn it on and press it to the tip of your nose; if it makes you feel like you need to sneeze its probably going to be a good fit. I've only tried that with a few toys so do with it what you will.

I usually try a vibe out two or three before I form a real opinion of it.

Yes, for most of my toys. But then again, never judge a vibrator by it's sound-- you may just have your mind blown away!
