My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The director, Paul Thomas, does a really nice job setting up the scenes. The writing is pretty decent and the acting isn't bad either. I rarely find a porn flick that actually gets me interested in the storyline, if there is one at all. We were genuinely interested in the characters and we made sure to go back and re-watch any parts that might have been missed due to our spontaneous arousal and subsequent fucking that ensued.

It is no wonder Tom Byron won best actor. The interactions between the male characters in the storyline are great! There were a few times during the more than 2 hours the film ran that my husband and I chuckled at the banter between them. My husband even noted that it was refreshing to see that type of everyday humor in porn. The movie was believable and gives insight into the porn industry.

The music is not your typical porn irritating music. It is appropriate for the scene and quite pleasant.

Movie Summary:
Layout is supposed to be about a young journalist working his way up in the porn review industry. This storyline lacks follow-up detail throughout the movie to remind the viewer that it is supposed to revolve around him. However, I found there were several storyline's to follow that seemed more developed and more interesting.

The film starts out awkwardly with the head of AVG magazine in a drunken babbling state. It quickly moves from that to the editors (Penny Flame and Tom Byron) of AVG conversing and discussing the difficulties of the job.

Scene 1:
Shows Briana Banks and another actor (not sure of his name) having sex in a variety of positions, even anal. Although, I found myself asking "why" throughout the scene, trying to figure out how this fit into the story. The end of the scene is quite funny and I even found myself laughing out loud.

I really appreciated the transitions from scene to scene. The transitions really built the characters development, this is where I find most porn misses the boat.

Scene 2:
Heather Malone and Rosetta Stone (Penny Lane and Joey) in a Dom/sub scene where Rosetta Stone is tied to the ceiling. Heather Malone only writes about actresses she is able to dominate and fuck. Rosetta is trying to make a come back into the business. It isn't as heavy a discipline scene as I think was intended, but none the less, it helps to build the plot.

Scene 3:
Heather stomps out of the office building and editor, Tom Byron's character, follows her out and proceeds to try to easy her weary mind by lifting her skirt and eating her out during her very quick smoke break.

Scene 4:
Features Pamela Devries (Kylie Ireland), a retired porn star coming back for one last big movie, and her new boyfriend Dan Sheffield, the new kid at the magazine. They proceed to get it on in a more intimate way.

Scene 5:
Pamela Devries and Rosetta Stone are filming an outdoor camping/sex scene when two guys spot them and join in. They have sex in a myriad of ways including 69, anal and double penetration, all while Pamela's new boyfriend watches from behind the scenes. He has flashbacks to the last few times he been with her and interacting a bit with Briana Banks. The scene tends to drag on a bit and could have been much shorter in my opinion. The acting between Kylie Ireland and her boyfriend is really great and pretty believable.

Scene 6:
Heather Malone has Briana Banks cuffed to the towel bar above the toilet in her apartment and proceeds to take her riding crop to her pussy and thighs for a bit of smacking and cuts Briana's panties with her pocket knife. Heather commands Briana to suck her pussy while she is spread-eagle across the bathroom sink just within her reach. The discipline scenes are a bit harder that the one in the beginning of the movie.

Scene 7:
The AVG staff is screening a new Briana Banks movie, in which the 'Three Muskettets' save the king. It is basically 3 on 1 and all the variations you can imagine within, including several anal scenes. The king certainly shows his appreciation to all (and it seems to go on forever!)

Scene 8:
The owner of AVG ties Heather upside down in the center of an apparatus I would die for, while another girl is in the stockade and Rosetta is strapped down with her legs chained in the air ready for the taking. Plenty of fucking and sucking, but still in line with the plot.

Scene 9:
Pamela and Sheffield go into a video store. While in a back isle she gives him a blow job to show him what she did in one movie he finds on the shelf and then she proceeds to shove a toy in her ass, all the while people are beginning to notice the moans and groans coming from their general location. Kinda hot.

Scene 10:
Heather and Tom Bryon's character are back in the office after hours, when Tom announces to Heather a major tragedy has happened within their company. She is distraught and she finally gives into Byron's character and lets him take her. This scene won the best couple sex scene of the year in 2008. It is pretty hot. There is a lot of anger and pent up frustration that is finally able to be unleashed.

The end of the movie was great. There is a "where are they now" to tie up all the loose ends and give you insight on what happened to your favorite characters in the story. Love the way the movie was filmed. Love the way it was written. Love the acting. I was really surprised that I could like an adult movie so much. I have watched it 3 times now and I am not sick of it. I am looking forward to watching it again at a later date.

I am giving this a five star rating.

This is one movie I won't lend out for fear I might not get it back. It is loaded with kink and the storyline is awesome. The first scene still cracks me up and I find my thoughts sometimes linger on other scenes from this movie, when I fantasize.

We have seen a boat-load of movies. This is one of 3 films we hold in a 5 star standing. When we rate new ones, we seem to be mentally comparing them to this one.
