O The Power of Submission review

I'll be straight up with you guys. O - The Power of Submission was my first "real" experience with adult videos. So much so, in fact, that I had little idea what to expect as I popped in the DVD, and plopped myself onto the couch to tuck myself into a good movie. Judging from the cover, (after all, they say never judge a book by it's cover - not adult videos!), this little venture was going to be HOT. Staring out at me was Carmen Luvana, a lusciously mischievous-looking blonde wearing a heavy steel v-shaped collar, and breast exposing silver dress. Her lips glistened with heavy translucent gloss. Her stance was one of both submissiveness and taunting. Delicious!

Flipping the case over, I found an array of video stills, ranging from anal sex, to cunnilingus, to flogging, to artistic bondage. The images drew me in and enchanted me. Submission? Slavery? Girl on Girl? Anal Sex? They had me, hook, line and sphincter!

The video began with O, a fashion photographer, snapping images of a naked beauty encased in vivid crimson rope. The artistry in bondage was superb, and the lovely lady seemed to enjoy every moment. The story line progressed as O was taken by her boyfriend (Master) to a sort of training camp for submissives. There, she was preened upon, flogged, and involved in various sexcapades before her "release".

The male stars of this film surpassed my expectations, as the many I have heard of in the past were of the "hairy, rotund sort." These guys were perfect specimens, true eye candy! The variety of positions accomplished by these actors astounded me, including a female who could ride a cock backwards, by squatting with her heels on a guy's knees!

For those who have read the book, Story of O, the plot of this movie is fairly easy to follow, though it does not delve very deeply into the emotions of the novel. (but then again, it's an adult film - why should it??) Probably the biggest issues I had were (a) I found very little "submissiveness" in Carmen's portrayal of O. For the most part, she seemed bored, and had an ever-present air of detectable defiance about her. (b) Initially, I thought she (O) was saying, "Fuck you!" to the point that I was ready to yell back at the screen, "Then do it already!" As it turned out, she was saying, "Fuck yeah!". Still... I can only listen to someone utter those words so many times before it starts to seriously grate on my nerves.

The ending of the film did not match the novel's ending, which isn't a big deal considering many aspects of the film went off track from the original story line. For those who are creaming to see lots of sex (but of course!), girl on girl action, M/f sex and flogging, caning, blowjobs, and the like - this was a truly excellent video. If you're looking for an in-depth dramatization of Story of O that includes all the fornication? Sorry, Charlie - But I can tell you I would be first in line if that ever happened! Overall, the video quality was exceptional, the acting was spot on, and the visual feast was VERY fulfilling.

My husband and I found ourselves to be "in the mood" by the film's conclusion, and decided to act out a few of the scenes right there on the living room couch! I must mention here that attempting the aforementioned backwards riding squat is ONLY for the very limber! (You do realize that companies include the "Do not try this at home" captions specifically for me, right?)
