Because he is made of jelly, I am giving him only four stars. However, due to his performance both for my G-spot and clitoris, he definitely earns them.

In spite of the fact that he's jelly, we love Flexi so much that I will be buying a couple more to have as back-ups for the day when this one dies. I'll probably name them Flexi2, Flexi3, etc. etc. and I imagine that in a few years Flexi29 will be going to the nursing home with me when my time comes.

Use

The Flexi Lover is a traditional vibrator that I've found to be a great introduction to the world of vibrating toys. True to his name, Flexi is incredibly flexible which allows him to reach deep places other vibrators miss.

I find him to be most effective when used for couple's play but he could also be used solo by an experienced user.

While Flexi is considered to be waterproof, I consider him to be more splashproof which means he'd be great for some water time fun.

Material / Texture

After ordering Flexi, I started reading more about jelly products and I was concerned that he might have a strong smell to him. However, when we opened the package, we realized that if we weren't deliberately trying to smell him, we would not have noticed any odor at all.

We didn't really try to taste him. We did lick him once but he was just bland.

The Flexi-lover is made of high quality unscented jelly, but he doesn't feel like jelly to me. When I think of jelly, I think of the very limp vibrating o-ring that we have. He is not like that at all. Instead, he is firm enough to flex, and let me tell you-- he can flex in many positions and hold the "new" shape. We tried several angles with him and were very pleased. My partner was even a bit jealous of just how flexible dear Flexi is.

So how would I really describe his texture? His head is firm to the touch but smooth, much like my partner's head. His shaft is ribbed and bendable. We bent him in many angles and he always held that position until we moved him again. The base of his shaft is the same texture as his head and the very bottom portion, which holds the batteries, is firm plastic. He isn't so hard that it hurts and yet he isn't so soft that he's squishy. He's nice and firm-- just with some flexibility to him.

One reason I might choose Flexi over other vibrators that we have is because of his ribbed portion. It just feels so good. The other reason is his ability to flex and bend.

Design / Shape / Size

He is 8 1/2" long with 7 1/2" being insertable. His diameter is 1 1/2" and his circumference is 4 1/2".

His head is bulb-shaped (verses tipped) and is approximately 1" in length. The ribbed portion of his shaft is 2" in length and his total length that flexes is approximately 4".

While Flexi's girth is wonderful for me, he is not perfect. I would prefer him to be longer. We would prefer at least another 1" insertable and possibly another 1" for the base where the batteries go. As it is right now, when my husband and I are playing together with Flexi inside me, he has a hard time keeping a firm grip on the base where the batteries are held. My husband has a large hand and large fingers and it is hard to wrap them around this base and be able to hold it securely.

Since he is a pink toy with the length and diameter that he is, I do not consider him to be discreet. If I was traveling, he would have to make the trip in my luggage-- possibly under lock and key so that no one X-raying my luggage would steal him. (Can you tell I love this guy?)

For me, the ribbed portion and the head are the highlights of Flexi's design. I love the ribbed portion as I push against him while he is in me. I also love the head because it is so realistic-feeling to me in its texture.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Flexi's motor is located in the head of the toy and that is where his vibrations are the strongest. However, you can also feel the vibrations down his shaft, particularly if you use the faster settings.

Flexi has ten different functions; three of which are steady vibrations while the rest are pulsating. He could not be heard when under the covers on the lowest speed, but could be heard a couple of feet away from the bed while on the highest speed if he was under the covers. However, you could use music or any other white noise to mask his sound. We found that when the window air conditioner was on, he could not be heard at any speed.

We are new to vibrators so I am not sure how to describe him. To me, he felt rumbly and the vibrations felt gentle when on the first setting but strong and deep on the third setting. We found he worked well for both the clitoris and the G-spot because of the way the vibrator is located in his shaft.

He has two buttons for his controls on the control shaft. One is an on/off button and the second is a selector button which cycles through the pre-programmed patterns. However, it can be hard to push either button without removing him. This is one reason why I recommend him for couple's play. In addition, we found that it was easiest to simply unscrew the cap lightly to get him to turn off.

According to the packaging he is waterproof, however, I would probably consider him splashproof and would not want to submerge him in water. I would be nervous about the batteries getting wet because they are in the grip.

Speaking of batteries, it was a bit hard to figure out exactly which way to insert the batteries, because the labels are so small.

Care and Maintenance

As Flexi is made of Jelly he really doesn't mind whether you use water or silicone based lubes, he plays well with both. As Jelly is incredibly porous it is important for him to have a bath before and after use with a disinfecting soap if available. He is also a one woman kinda guy, no sharing due to his porous nature unless you use a condom. I've found it easiest to store him in his packaging in between uses as he just loves to attract little bits of dust and lint.

Packaging

He was packaged in a hard plastic box that's designed to hang off a peg. Flexi is clearly visible and shows through the front of the box. One side of the box talks about the number and type of vibrations and states that there is a push button control on the base. However, the packaging does not mention the specifics of the various settings. The box also states that he is made out of high density unscented jelly.

You can use this box for storage because it is easy to get into, and the top flap for hanging on a peg can be cut off. Since you can easily see him inside, it would be fine for storing in a drawer or toy chest.

I am not sure how I would feel about giving him as a gift to someone without first putting this box in a prettier box and wrapping that. However, I would not let the lack of "pretty" packaging keep me from gifting him to someone. Once they use him, they won't care how he was packaged.

Beginners could probably use a bit more instruction than is given on the side of the box, but it really wasn't that hard to figure him out.

As a final note, if you choose to give this as a gift, buy a multi-pack of AAA batteries because he uses three of them and they are not included.

Personal comments

As I write this review, I've now used three different vibrators recently. I still consider myself a newbie and each vibrator has his own strength to bring to the play time.

Flexi's strength is in his name-- the fact that he is flexible and provides several selections of vibrations for a reasonable price. Because of his texture, he's easy for a beginner to use and yet his flexibility can give joy to the G-spot of even advanced users.

Experience

We use Flexi both internally for my G-spot and externally for my clitoris. We've tried him while using several positions and find him enjoyable in every one.

If we are using him for my G-spot, we find that it helps to have another vibrator on my clitoris at the same time. However, that is not necessary and is just our preference. He still does a great job on his own.

I guess you can tell that we both love Flexi. We would love to see him have a bit more length, and we would love to see better controls on the base. But he brings so much "O" to our times together that we're willing to accept him as he is-- even though he's jelly.
Follow-up commentary
Writing a mixed review is so hard. Do you start with the good, the bad or possibly even the ugly?

In this case, I will start with the good. I still enjoy this toy sometimes. It was great for us as an early toy because it was so flexible that we could bend it to hit my G-spot. I still love the bulb-shaped head, and this toy showed me certain preferences that I now have for toys. I like toys to be somewhat flexible and not hard. I like them to have a rounded or bulb-shaped head versus coming to a tip like the top of a tube of lipstick. I like longer lengths, and we don't care as much for button controls as we do dial controls.

So---we learned a lot with this toy about our needs and wants and I think we probably saved ourselves a lot of money that would have been spent on purchases that weren't so great for my body if we didn't have this toy to compare other toys with.

Unfortunately, the Flexi Ribbed Lover is made from jelly and that does make it harder to clean and keep clean. I have had a couple of urinary tract infections and we wonder if it could be from this toy. I honestly can't be sure yet, but we want to try and track it after we use this toy.

If I had not discovered silicone toys that were designed for G-spot stimulation, I would still love this toy and want a new one on hand all the time in case it broke. Until we purchased this toy, I had mainly had experiences with harder toys that were inflexible.

However, I have since discovered both the joys of both silicone toys and toys that are designed to stimulate the G-spot, and I find that they are safer and almost more enjoyable than this toy.

I can't say I don't like it because the truth is I do like it. I am glad we have it in our collection and we will still continue to use it unless we can prove for sure it has caused me to have infections.

I would even still recommend it to someone who needs to learn about toys and wants to try flexing this toy to different angles so they can see what length and angles they need for future toys.

But I can't say that I would recommend this to everyone. If you already know the angle you need for G-spot stimulation, then you probably do not need this toy.
