The Stroking Power Pump is one fun toy! To prepare it for first use, four C batteries (not included) must be installed in the battery/control unit and the suction bulb has to be attached. The first thing I noticed is that it is loud and there is nothing subtle about the "rev-your-engines" sounds it makes. Although there is no power switch, two small dials control a motor that provide a stroking motion and vibrations.

Once my dick was inside the penis sleeve, I turned on the stroker that created a vertical suction action; this pulled my cock further into the pump. As both the pump and the sleeve are clear, it is kind of cool to watch my dick being massaged. Given that penis pumps can cause injury if too much suction is used, just a few pumps of the suction bulb are necessary. With my cock now firmly in place, I experimented with the powered stroking feature. Inside the black handle (refer to the picture of this product), is a motor that pulls and then pushes the top of the penis sleeve so that when your cock is inside, it gets a robotic massage. It is possible to adjust the speed of this stroking action. When my penis found a happy speed, I turned on and experimented with the various strengths of vibrations by adjusting another dial on the control unit.

I was surprised that no matter how fast/slow or strong/weak the stroking motion and vibrations were set, it never made me feel like I was going to cum. I found that I could kick back and enjoy the various sensations for a long amount of time. The overall intensity (or lack of intensity) made me wonder if the "Stroking Power Pump" was really designed primarily as a penis pump, despite the appearance that it could put any mortal cock into overload. When first unpacked, there was a fairly strong smell of plastic but this disappeared as the pump was being used. The pump cylinder, with a diameter of 2 1/2 inches, is made from clear plastic that feels sturdy and durable. A scale (that may be in centimeters but is too small for me to actually read) is molded onto the one side of the cylinder. Attached to the top of the cylinder is a handle made from molded/textured black plastic or rubber that can be held during use. The penis sleeve is made from clear TPR Silicone which may be cleaned with antibacterial soap and warm water (more on this in a moment). The interior of the sleeve contains large bumps that appear like they would give your penis added sensations. In actual use, these bumps don't provide a tremendous amount of stimulation but are noticeable. Overall, the sleeve is soft and yet firm enough that I had to be hard, or at least semi-hard before I could enter it.

No question about it, the Stroking Power Pump is big: at first glance, this thing looks like it was made for King Kong - perfect for spanking the monkey! This toy is anything but discreet - it takes up a large amount of real estate and quickly becomes a major architectural component of any space that it is used in! Turning on the power only adds to its intrusiveness as it is very loud. The main unit, which consists of the pump chamber and the attached handle, is 13 inches in length, and the separate battery/control unit is approximately 9 inches long. When the suction bulb is added,this penis pump is just plain big. In fact, it looks rather intimating. Once my dick was inside, it still looked huge although it will only accommodate average or smaller men. The clear plastic design allows for a great viewing experience.

The size of this pump is makes it awkward to hold and has to be supported during use. It can be held in your hand or, if sitting in a chair, propped up against something. The battery holder/controller is also very large and attached to the handle of the main unit with a wire. As 4 C batteries are required, the controller is rather heavy and awkward. The size is also a hassle as there must be a place to put the controller when playing. There are many times when the need to keep the controller out of the way distracts from quality penis-time. The Stroker Power Pump is simply too big to travel with comfortably.

I may not be the most well endowed man on the planet (I'm just an average guy) but I quickly discovered two things after lubing up my manhood: first, the inviting lip-shaped orifice into the love tunnel is small and very tight. Second, I had to be fairly hard before I could even try to insert my dick into the sleeve - the entrance is just too tight to penetrate while flaccid. It also helped to give the suction bulb a few pumps to get my dick into this penis playground. One annoying problem is that the suction bulb does not stay attached very well to the pump due to its design and would often falls off and has to be reattached.

The biggest design problem (and this is a very serious one) is that cleaning the pump is almost impossible. The penis sleeve does not detach from the stroking/vibrating apparatus inside the cylinder and there is no way to take the unit apart. The Stoking Power Pump is not waterproof and cannot get wet.

The Stroking Power Pump looks and feels sturdy. The cylinder is well made and the stroking/vibration functions are easy to control. The stroking and vibration action are not exceptionally intense and certainly did not make me cum, even on the highest intensity/strength settings. The way the Power Pump is designed gives the head of the penis the most sensations with the base receiving very little. Once I accepted that I wasn't going to get off with this, I realized that it still felt very good and just enjoyed the ride.

The tethered control unit/battery pack is also inconvenient as it can get in the way of your fun. Once desired settings are found, it can be left alone but if you want change them, it's necessary to hold on to the pump with one hand and use the controller with the other. There is simply a lot of hardware (besides your hardon) to deal with. Any lube on your hand can also make things a bit messy.

There is no question that the pump provides a very tight fit and and creates a good seal for pumping. Although I had to be erect to enter it, once in, just a couple of pumps of the suction bulb were all that were needed. Again, do not overpump as this could damage your dick. During use, I found that I had to periodically hit the quick release valve of the suction bulb to relieve some of the pressure. Interestingly, the stroking action also seemed to increase the suction (even without using the bulb) and it was necessary to use the quick release valve to help with that.

Sadly, after enjoying the low-level hands-free masturbatory experience of the Power Pump for a couple of hours (not all at once but over several sessions), the stroking action stopped - it broke. At first, I thought that the unit had overheated as the pump and especially the control unit gets hot even though it is battery powered. My penis was not very happy about this and neither was I. Perhaps I got a defective unit as this pump looks like it should be very durable.

The Stroking Power Pump is a cleaning nightmare. There is no way to detach and remove the sleeve from the inside of the cylinder and therefore it cannot be sufficiently cleaned. The love tunnel is made from TPR Silicone and requires the use of water-based lubes. TPR is normally easy to clean with antibacterial soap and warm water but as the unit is not waterproof, getting water on it can ruin the rest of the pump. While the sleeve is tight for my penis, it's even tighter when trying to get a washcloth or something else inside to clean. It's a good thing that it doesn't make me cum inside otherwise that would be a real mess to deal with. Cleaning it is nearly impossible.

Storage is another consideration. The size makes it very difficult to hide discreetly and it does not come with a suitable container. It requires that a place be found to store it that will meet your needs.

The Stroking Power Pump comes in a large cardboard box that is not discrete. Although only pictures of the pump are presented and there is no mention of telltale words such as penis, cock, dick, masturbation, etc., the purpose of it is very evident. I can't imagine many other uses for a "Stroking Power Pump" that has "vertical stroking action, powerful suction, multi-speed vibrations, and [a] textured TPE [A.K.A. TPR] sleeve" printed on three sides of the box.

Interestingly, the box also lists many of the standard precautions for penis pumps like, "consult your physician should there be any complications, discontinue use. . . if pain occurs, apply the minimum amount of pressure necessary to achieve an erection," etc. It also states, "Wash before and after each use" followed by the warnings "Do not get battery end wet. DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER" (emphasis not added). Nothing is said about how it should really be cleaned. No instructions of any kind are included and, while it is rather easy to assume how the pump works, simple directions should have been provided.

After the stroker action stopped working, I tried to find out why. As no instructions were provided, I noticed that three web sites were printed on the packaging; one for California Exotics, one to register the Stroking Power Pump (really), and one to the Dr. Joel Kaplan site because it has been "endorsed and prescribed" by him. The home page of the Kaplan site has an online "site consultant" live chat feature so I thought I'd ask a few questions to help with this review. When I asked about cleaning, the response was:

"Dr. Joel Kaplan Support: That one is a novelty pump, I'm not sure what the cleaning instructions for that toy would be. I think you can carefully use a damp cloth to clean the surfaces in side and out."

I then inquired about the defective stroking action:

"Dr. Joel Kaplan Support: I'm not sure what might have happened. It's a toy pump that is part of Cal Exotics line for Dr. Kaplan . . . we don't manufacture it so I'm not sure what might have happened. . ."

I didn't get much more information but at least I tried.

The Stroking Power Pump has been a bit difficult to review, after getting over the size of it, the tightness of the penis sleeve, and the low-level stimulation, I actually came to like it a lot. It feels great to just kick back and let it massage my dick for a fairly long amount of time. As this is only the second penis pump I've tried, I was also very surprised that this one actually made my dick bigger in both length and girth. Sure, the effect was only temporary but I really did like the results. If the stroker action hadn't broken, I would probably given this a rating of 3, maybe 4 stars, even though cleaning it is really difficult. While it doesn't get me off, it still makes my penis very happy.
