Good First Rabbit Vib, But a Bit Short-Lived
If nothing else, this vibrator is worth the purchase just for the butterfly stimulator. It does not leave a woman wanting! The rotating beads and head are a not-so-small bonus. If it had lasted a bit longer and been waterproof, it would have been a five-star product in my book. I'll likely purchase a similar butterfly vibrator to replace it.Published: October 15, 2011
Pros:
butterfly clitoral stimulator, rotating beads, realistic head, length of shaft, g-spot stimulation
Cons:
not waterproof, difficult to store, slightly noisy, could be tougher
Use
The "Magic Monarch" Vibrator (a.k.a. Pearl Butterfly) is one of the best vibrators I've owned. It was the first rabbit-style vibrator I purchased and was my primary vibrator for about two years. I wish it had lasted a bit longer, but I was also quite rough on this powerful vibrator and it was very nice to me during those two years in spite of being treated roughly.
There are three main stimulation points on this product. The rotating beads are one of the first things you notice. They are both artistic and quite stimulating. The head also rotates, but not intimidatingly so. Thirdly, the butterfly vibrates on its own and provides a "powerful punch" to the clitoris. The shaft (beads & head) and butterfly have separate gradient controls, so you can personalize your stimulation to the combination that is perfect for your body.
When positioned just right, you can use the beads and rotating head of this vibrator to stimulate the G-spot nicely. However, one of my favorite uses was to turn the shaft on low with the butterfly on medium or high and just "go to town". If you prefer hands-off solo play, this toy can do the trick. Simply put the Pearl Butterfly in position, relax your legs, flick both buttons to high, and enjoy the ride. This toy also works well for partner play--but only if your mate is secure. If he's up for some "butterfly playtime", he will enjoy the various controls and interesting design of the butterfly clitoris simulator on this vibrator. But, the Pearl Butterfly has quite an impressive 6" insertable length and 5" circumference, so it may not be the best toy to suggest for a first time toy experience with your partner or for insecure mates.
One word of wisdom: If you have good Kegels or are working on your Kegel muscles, be careful to not squeeze the beads too hard while the shaft vibration is set to high. My mistake was to clench a bit too much while the shaft was on high vibration a few too many times. It felt great, but I broke the motor that rotated the beads and head. Even without rotation, this vibrator was quite nice. I'll just need to be nicer on my toys from now on.

Material / Texture
The Pearl Butterfly is made of smooth clear and white PVC. This is a common material that is easy to clean and maintain. It's not the best quality, but it does the job.
Most of this vibrator is smooth. The head of the shaft is realistic and provides some nice textured stimulation. There are also a few ridges just under the head that are nice replicas of the foreskin on an uncircumcised penis. When vibrating, the beads provide a nice rolling/bumpy, yet smooth, texture. Overall, this vibrator has some nicely textured spots without being overwhelming.

Design / Shape / Size
This is a rabbit-style vibrator with a long, but realistic shaft and butterfly clitoris stimulator. Definitely not a discreet toy or for someone new to vibrators. However, this would make a nice early rabbit vibrator for someone who wants to bridge from a more traditional vibrator.
The best thing about the shape/size of this vibrator over others is the butterfly. It's a unique design and nice change from normal rabbit vibrators. I also prefer the wide wings of the butterfly over the sharp vibration of rabbit ears, etc. The wings provide a good amount of stimulation over a wide area (especially stimulating the labia) without overstimulating any given area.

Functions / Performance / Controls
As previously mentioned, this vibrator has two vibration locations--one in the shaft and one in the butterfly clitoris stimulator. Both are easily controlled with separate "gradient"/slider switches located on the base. I really liked that these two vibrating motors can be controlled separately to personalize and modify the stimulation to just the right combination.
The Pearl Butterfly vibrator is only moderately noisy. It's definitely not discrete (in size or noise level), but it isn't going to wake the house or alert the neighbors.
One of the few drawbacks to this vibrator is that it isn't waterproof. That is the one feature I really wish this vibrator had. When I purchase a replacement vibrator, I'll likely look for one of the waterproof butterfly vibrators of similar design. Unfortunately, there are only a few butterfly vibrators on the market and only about half of those claim to be waterproof.

- Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance
The Pearl Butterfly vibrator is easy to use and care for. I clean mine with either simple soap and water or an unscented toy cleaner. There is one point (where the shaft and base meet) that takes a bit of extra cleaning to avoid lubrication building up and drying in a flaky mess. As long as you run a wipe (or just your fingernail with some soapy water) along that seam, the vibrator is easily cleaned and stored for future use.
One tidbit about storage: Like many rabbit vibrators, this vibrator is rather large due to the size of the base. Because of this, it won't fit in most vibrator/toys bags. I've found that the best way to store this vibrator is a wine bottle cover. They come in many colors and fabrics, so they make for a fun way to store your vibrators. The only other option I found that works well for this vibrator is simply wrapping it with a hand towel. If you have kids, roommates, or just don't want your mate to see this toy, I would strongly suggest a lockable case/box for this and your other toys. This vibrator is not going to easily fit in a shoe box or hide discretely under a pillow or in your underwear drawer.

Personal comments
This is a great rabbit-style vibrator for the diva experienced with other types of vibrators who wants to bridge to rabbit vibrators. If you aren't rough on it, it'll please you for several years.

How does the butterfly compare to other shapes?Reply
-
A lot depends on the length as well as the shape (even among butterflies) as to how the clitoral piece stimulates. I'd say find a shape you like, and then explore the reviews to see how the piece will stimulate.Reply

Thank you for viewing Pearl butterfly vibrator review page!

Fantastic first review! Welcome to EF! I had a similar vibrator as my first, and I have strong kegels and broke mine also. But I ended up keeping it until the clitoral stimulator broke.
Great first review! Welcome!
Great first review!
Awesome 1st review! Welcome to Eden! I know what you mean about stopping and breaking the beads with kegels! Almost all of my rabbits will break if I do kegels on them. I hope the silicone beaded rabbit you're thinking about is good to you!
