I almost always mute my porn. If there is background music, BOOP! automatic mute. And then a lot of the noises, especially in straight porn, either make me cringe or laugh uncontrollably. One of the most memorable moments was when I was watching a gay video in my room with headphones, and it was pretty hot for the first minute, but then they both started the standard porn moaning, and they sounded like dying whales. I think I woke up the person next door with my laughter...

Not only do we have kids, and I certainly don't want them to hear porn through our bedroom door (our kids know we have sex, but we can be discreet about it) but I tend to get distracted by an other woman "in the room" fake moaning and repeating "Yes YES YES YES!" over again.
I prefer it completely silent. I hate when the sex is happening on the screen and you can see the woman talking and talking and.. shut up! What could be so important that she talks through the entire thing? (I don't know, because I always have the sound down.) I tend to make noise during sex, but I don't have full conversations while we're having at it.

In most cases I put it on mute. Most of the dialogue is stupid enough to turn me off. I don't watch porn to hear men talking like douchebags and women faking orgams and speaking in the most vapid airheaded voices conceivable. Stuff with slightly higher production value, I'll put it on low. Fetish stuff isn't usually as bad, either. But the only "porn" I watch to pay attention to the storyline and dialogue is hentai. But I don't really use that as porn, either.
