I used to have a big wooden office chair in front of the computer, and I sat in it cross legged a lot, I started developing dents in my thighs that were there all the time.

You're probably not doing anything beneficial to the flesh by cutting off bloodflow... but as long as it's not TOO tight or on for too long it shouldn't do permanent damage, I don't think
