It has to do with the color of clothing you are wearing (at least for me it is) and also the type of lighting you are in. People who have known me for a long time (like even my own brother) sometimes look at my eye color in surprise, commenting that they didn't know there was so much of whichever color it is that happen to be seeing at that moment.
