#Workshop - March 9th @ 8pm: All About Affiliate Reports

Contributor: Rockin' Rockin'
We're now covering the section: Types of Reports

If you'd like to follow along, open a new tab or window. Go to EdenFantasys and click on Account at the top left corner of your screen.

Look under the Services menu and click on Affiliate Program, which should bring up a page that looks like the one shown below. On this page, look toward the bottom left and click on Reports.

Ok, now you're on the Reports page. All the reports are right there waiting for you! You can access any report you want just by clicking on its title. Here's a screenshot of the page:

We're going to work from top to bottom and check out each report. Feel free to ask any questions.

On the Reports page, click on Main to view the Main Report. Here's what mine looks like:

Main Report

Okay, I added a dashed line around the report part. In future posts, I'm going to post just what's inside that area of the screen, just so it's easier to read on here. Sound good?

Here's an easier to read screenshot of my Main Report:

Main Report

The Main Report is a nice summary of your Traffic, Orders, Commission, and Commissions Due. Of all the reports available, I use the this one the most. If you want to bookmark a report, bookmark the Main Report!

Aside from being a concise report, the Main Report is awesome because you can easily access other reports just by clicking on the numbers on the right side of it. For example, in the Traffic (hits) row, clicking on the number of hits will bring up the Traffic Report. The same is true for the rest of the links (clicking the number of Orders or Net Sales will take you to the Orders report; clicking the Commission amount or Commissions Due amount takes you to the Commissions report).

Commissions are estimated by taking the individual sales and multiplying them by the commission percent. So, for Online Affiliate sales, it'd be 20%, and for offline it'd be 5%. Then the commissions are added up and reported as "Estimated Commissions."

It's called "estimated" because the sales/commission could change if you're looking at a period that hasn't closed yet.

While the Main Report is a great summary of your stats, it doesn't give many details. Let's dive into some details!

It's time for the Traffic Report!

Here it is, in all its glory:
Traffic Report

The Traffic Report tells you
• Where your hits are coming from (Partner Domain)
• How many hits you get from each referring location (Hits)
• How many orders were placed by people who came from a certain location (Orders)
• Your net sales from a referring location (Net Sales)

I'm going to post some tips on using the Traffic Report in just a minute. Any questions about the Traffic Report itself?

Thank You! I was just wondering if it had a time frame included.

I see the picture okay, but I've chosen to follow along by doing a hands on to ensure I understand completely. The report seems pretty simple and to some level self-explanatory (but of course your assistance helps).

Yup! The top four numbers adjust to the date range you select.

Hey guys. ~waves hi~

I was just reading through this just to get the info. I did not realize this was for Off site affiliates too. duh. I admit a lot of this does not make much sense to me, but I am here to learn.

How can you use the Traffic Report?
Affiliates can post links in lots of places online. You can put an affiliate link in your blog, in a tweet on Twitter, in an email to a friend, on your Facebook profile, and lots of other places. The Traffic Report helps you see which places are successfully bringing in traffic, and which places aren't getting as many clicks.

For example, let's say you have a Twitter account and a blog. You tweet all the time about Eden products, but you only link to Eden every month or so on your blog. If you check your Traffic Report, you can see if your Twitter and blog activity is working for you. Maybe you see higher numbers from your blog's address than from Twitter, which could motivate you to post affiliate links in your blog posts. If your numbers from Twitter are higher, maybe you'd be motivated to get more followers so even more people would see your tweets. This is just an example, and everyone has a different situation to evaluate.

As a personal example, here's how I would use my Traffic Report:

On my Traffic Report (posted above) I saw that I got 14 hits from my blog and 6 hits from my Twitter account. Thinking about my blog, I update it now and then, but it's nice to know that I still get hits from it. I might be motivated to post more often. As far as Twitter is concerned, I know I don't use affiliate links that much in my tweets, so 6 hits is a lot for just a week's time. I might think about tweeting more affiliate links in the future.

I understand the report based on sales from widgets, links, and banners. Now, forgive me ahead of time but here is a question....
Will my income be solely based on that of the widgets, links and banners or can I have a store with real products and prices on my own blog - OR - does everything basically funnel back to Eden's site? I just want to understand the complete concept. Once they purchase from you, isn't it highly unlikely that they will purchase again through my banner but will go straight to the Eden's site, hence - I lost a customer to the Eden's site. ? I hope you understood my question.

Great question.

Ok, first I'll tackle the concept question. We offer affiliate tools like links, banners, and widgets, but we also offer Eden Personal Stores that you can set up on your own website. We also offer flyers to hand out in person to use as coupons (this is part of the Offline Affiliate program).

So, a lot of things do "funnel back" to Eden, but that's kind of the point of an affiliate. Affiliates refer people to Eden and get commission.

But just because you referred someone to Eden once doesn't mean you "lost a customer." Your partner code stays in the customer's browser for 180 days after they initially pick it up from your link, so you would still earn commission on any purchases they make during that time.

Additionally, you can always keep publishing good content on your site / Twitter / Facebook to keep people interested and engaged, and therefore generate more sales and gain new customers.

How would we use our code on FB? Is that something we post or something on our profile? Sorry if this is out of place.

I'm not sure what you mean. For Eden Personal Stores, you have to own your own domain and hosting, so you can't set up a store on a subdomain site like mysite(dot)blogger(dot )com.

If that wasn't what you were asking about, please clarify
