I've been wondering how long the sexual encounters of most couples last. I'm not talking quickies before work or that one marathon sex session you had in college, but your average, daily bout of sex. I read somewhere that the average is something like 7 minutes - now I'm not using a stopwatch, but that sounds short to me.
What's your experience? Again, I'm not looking for outliers, but your typical experience with your current partner.

The average is probably 45 minutes to an hour. That's not all penetrative sex, that's all the manual and oral that goes along with it. Sometimes it's over an hour, I don't think it's been over two hours very often though, and sometimes a half hour can still be long enough and satisfying enough that I don't consider it a quickie. I think anything under 20-25 minutes I'd consider a quickie for us.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to answer. The actual penetration is one amount of time but the total length is another.

I would say anywhere from 5 seconds (quickie!) to 2-3 hours of foreplay... actual sex, we probably average 10-15 minutes, but again the range is anywhere from 2 minutes to an hour or more.

I was gonna say 20-40 minutes, which is usual for me.. but when I think about foreplay and all of that.. it can turn into a whole day long ordeal! Hahaha but usually around two hours I think.. or at least that's the way I like it best and like to keep it. But a solid 20-40 of legit sexy time :]

We go back and forth between foreplay and oral and intercourse and take little breaks throughout, so it lasts more than an hour. We only get the chance a few times a month so we have to take advantage of the time we are together

If you wouldn't want the kids to see you doing it, then it might be included in "sexy time," as Crashgasm called it.
I see now that I wasn't very specific with my poll... I suppose anything that involves genital stimulation would be included in the time estimate. I wouldn't count things like groping or massage (unless you're massaging the genitals...)

Difficult to answer this one. On average I would say about 45min, including foreplay usually with toys as part of our foreplay. A prior orgasm, prior to his penetration certainly contributes to the big "O" for both of us.
A quickie? Just that...3min to 5min, I guess.
I know I am too much a type "A" to spend hours on sex, perhaps someday?

Not including those weekday morning quickies (which usually last between 10 minutes to an hour, depending on how long we have) at least 3 or 4 times a week we have nice, long marathons of about 2 to 3 hours. We don't discern between "foreplay" and "sex" it's sex from the first touch or grab.

Then, there are the "it's not a quickie, but not a marathon, either" which usually lasts a little over an hour or so. We're looking at about 5-6 quickies, 3 or 4 "inbetweens" and 3-4 marathons and the random blow job here and there a week, all together. Of course, it varies from week to week. (Last week was only 2 marathons, an inbetween and about 3 or 4 BJs, due to a UTI and then a yeast infection on my part, and that was all after 6 days of nothing but him getting some, because of the issues. NOT our best week. We both get crabby and irritable when this happens. But, you can't really control UTIs most of the time.)

I have to be honest, I don't think we've ever had five minute sex. 10 or 20 minutes, sometimes, but no less than that. I like to warm up and really get into it. Even a "quickie" needs to last at least 10-15 minutes, (hopefully longer) for me. It's just what works for us.

My Man is a maniac and always working on something, (He spend the whole day today, a Holiday, painting the garage, he's been working on it for a week, and he doesn't stop even if it's dark or it's raining or anything) he's a workaholic, so sex is about the ONLY time I can get him to slow down and savor something.

Overall foreplay included about an hour.

For us, about 40 mins to an hour. There's a lot of touching, kissing, licking, etc...you get the idea. There are times that we want to take it slow (more often)and there are times we want it fast, rough and quick (less often). But on average, our playtime is between 40 mins and an hour.

We usually end up taking at least an hour sometimes 2 (foreplay is sex in our minds). Our quickies though last 10-15 min though.

I usually last for hours with my partner depending on if his mother is home or not. I've gone for about 4 to 5 hours just going at it in different positions; as well as we secretly do it when his mother is sleeping since that is a turn on for my partner and I.

It depends and I never actually timed it but I guess that between 20 and 40 minutes is accurate.

I'm not actually sure. That part I lose count of... last guy foreplay and all would last like 2 hours each time. Marathon sessions made me exhausted.
