A question for the dads

Contributor: Gracie Gracie
If you are a dad do you get a card or a gift for the mother of your kids on Mother's Day, or do you leave it all up to the kids?

I'll answer for my hubby. He usually gets me something, but then my son is only three. My son's school usually has him make me a little something as well, but my husband gets me a bigger present. My mom also usually buys me a present for some reason. O.o

I do both, I help and encourage the kids to make a card (Buy one if they/I have the money) and get her something nice from me. There have been a few years where money is tight so we try and do stuff around the house for her. This year I am going to wash and wax her SUV while the kids clean out the interior. Probably do the house work too.

I'll answer for my hubby too. He usually gets me something small. I got a pocket knife this year. (It's black and pink! He got it because I want alone at night and we live in a bad area.) And I usually get taken out for a meal. My children are only 3 and 1, so they make me something with their head start teacher. So, hubby gets me a gift for them.

My husband gets me something from himself, and something from the younger kids. The older kids get me their own presents.

He will take the little ones to the store and pick something out "for Mama." Then a card.

Then we have a house full of people on Mother's Day. Right now he's cleaning the refrigerator and yesterday he washed all the floors downstairs. I'm hoping I'll have to do as little as possible, as having all these people over is his idea.

I'm making the finger sandwiches and the desserts, but he's supposed to do everything else for Mother's Day. He's also making potato salad it's a huge deal for us. It's lots of work.

Thanks for answering. I was curious. My dad does absolutly nothing for my mother, and my huband never did anything for me. But many of my friends get really nice gifts from their husband so I wondered about the community here!

Yes, I get a card! And sometimes, I put a "surprise" item in it too!

I get a card that the kids give her. They older one makes something at school. and the younger one made something in his sunday school class. I purchased things for them when they were really young. Now I make them put some thought into it.
