Birthdays were cool when I was a kid because back then I couldn't buy myself things. Now it's just another excuse to party, which is just fine with me!

I don't throw a big party or anything, but I don't ignore the day either. I like having a reason to celebrate being here, especially if I get to spend that day with my close friends and family. Every year my mom will make dinner for whoever's birthday it is and we open a few presents.
My husband on the other hand, seems to hate that I remember that his birthday is just over a week away. He doesn't want to do anything, so I'm not going to do anything big. I will get him a card and something that I hope means something to him, but he's content with "happy birthday".

No, not really. Hubby makes whatever meal I want for supper and we just have a nice family evening. My son usually buys me something out of his own money and wraps it up and that's always special.

i've never had a huge celebration, but i go out to eat every year, & every year that i've been in college, i've had a small party w/ my friends. although, i have to say that last year's was the best so far.

I like to think of it as my own personal holiday. One day a year where I treat myself to whatever I want: outings, food, staying in bed till noon, etc. I just try to not worry about the rest of whatever may be going on and give myself as much happiness as possible. Although this year was kind of a bummer but I ended up stuck in a not fun location but next year will be back on track.

I tend to make a big deal as the month begins. Mine is at the end of the month. So I like to plant the seed early and see what happens on the big day.
