Depends a lot on the adaptation. Some things are better animated, some things are better as a manga

Prefer manga the most, let's them tell out the full story with less budget constraints though the new Sword Art Online anime beats the manga by a lot.

It very much depends. Some anime can be better than the manga and vice versa. I like both. I may even read and watch a series, rather than just doing one or the other.

Manga usually, but sometimes it's nice to see your favorite characters brought to life even if the adaptation is poor.

Manga is usually better. But not always, sometimes anime art is actually better.

I typically go for the manga first. But if I happen to watch the anime before reading the manga, the anime may not seem as great anymore.

Anime and manga can have a lot of small side-plots. But I like anime better because with anime, you usually have to watch an episode or two foreach side-plot and I don't mind that as much as finishing a whole book of manga where nothing happened towards the central plot (which happens a lot).
