I have 2 boys and watch cartoons alot, but I've noticed I really like the cartoons I grew up with better than the ones they have now a days. It made me wonder what others thought.
Are cartoons better when you were a kid than they are now?

I know; I feel the same way! Maybe it's just because I'm not at that "magical" age that's so receptive to cartoons in general...maybe. But for my taste, the older cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Woody Woodpecker, and even Gummy Bears, really were better. Which ones did you like?

the older cartoons are better. My daughter is watching a lot of Nick, Jr., but when that stage wears off, as far as Sat. morning cartoons go, I'll have to pop in oldies like Bugs Bunny, Gummi Bears, Jem and classics because Sat. morning cartoons are horrible!

there are 2 or 3 today that i like, but for the most part, the 1s that were popular when i was a kid were much better. i especially feel that way when i watch them now b/c i pick up so much more of the adult jokes.

Older cartoons for sure. Back then you knew they were, well, cartoons. I knew that the Road Runner was not as tall as the Coyote and Buggs was not as tall as Elmer. Loony Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Flintstones and the Jetsons will always have a place with me.

Older cartoons are the best! I'm currently getting my kids hooked on my childhood favorites. It's a great time for us all.

Even as a kid I couldn't stand many of the cartoons. I found them plain and boring. I think that I would've preferred most of what comes on Adult Swim now, as opposed to what they had when I was a kid. And anime, I needed some ANIME as a kid!
Something that shows guns and blood, more realistic life or death situations than anvils dropped on heads, and characters who can actually die and stay dead. That is what I wanted. That's why I switched to more adult shows before 1st grade. The kid stuff was just too boring to me.
But, I was an odd kid, and stayed that way

There are some good cartoons - or so I've been told. Avatar is quite good. But, yeah, generally they're not as good as what I remember. Though admittedly I may be looking back with rose-tinted glasses.

no, I think that the cartoons now days are better. Maybe not story wise. The adult cartoons like family guy and american dad are so much better then what was on when I was a kid.

There are some good ones on now, but they are often less accessible. The new CN Batman cartoon is great, but I think its a Friday night cartoon. That being said I am a way bigger fan of the old cartoon. Thundercats is probably my favorite.
