bar or coffee shop?

misterazor misterazor
do you spend more time at the bar or the coffee shop each week? this will have an age influence, i'm sure. i'm just wondering how many people transition from bar to coffee shop as they get older...
...did you transition, and at what age?

The last time I was at a bar was 2003 and a coffee shop was 2006....

Neither really unless we can count my bar at home that I keep fully stocked. It's much cheaper and closer to the bed since I'm guaranteed to pick up a hot chick...being my lovely wife.

I'm a total coffee shop kind of girl, although I really don't hang around in a coffee shop for real long since there isn't one in my area (I know, where the hell do I live? Bum fucked Egypt? Or whatever that sayin' is) so I only get to go in one when I'm already in town for something (which is a lovely hour and a half away at the closest) so I rarely have time to just sit in there. But I love the relaxing environment and all the lovely scents in the funky coffee shop downtown! Man that place is like ba-liss!

And the bar scene was never my thing. I'm from the south. We tend to party at home. I was really young when I did my crazy drinking and partying, so I was not of age to do so in a bar. And a few years ago had a very... life changing... traumatic event and totally quit my drinking then. I went back to it (mostly only beer though, never really went back to the harder stuff that gets me super drunk) with my partner because I could no longer trust drinking around anyone else.

Then before I ever turned 21, I was done all together so the bar thing was never really my thing. Plus, I think the whole bar scene is a lot about getting attention, picking people up (for my age at least) and since my partner and I got together when I was 15 (I'm almost 23 now) I really had no more reason or interest to go bar hopping when I turned of age. Just not appealling.

So I guess I'm a weird one. We don't do bars, but we will have family & friends over on weekends and have beer every once in a while. We have a party with the whole family one day every weekend, so sometimes I'll have a drink of someone's home-made wine or shine and be done. I don't let myself have much more.

I love coffee shops, I rarely ever go to bars. They're so expensive and usually don't have a very nice mood.

I really don't like the whole clubbing and bar scene any more. Every once in a while there is a classier type of bar that I will go to.

I love coffee shops, but since moving out here I have yet to find one with a decent atmosphere or coffee! There seems to be a bar every ten feet or so, though.

I don't really do either but if I had to choose one, coffee shop.

Bars don't appeal to me. They never did. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to one, and even then they were places where they also had a restaurant and were known for both food and drink evenly.

I used to be a total coffee shop person, and still would if I had the time and options.

I rarely ever step foot in a coffee shop since I don't like coffee but I'll go to the bar a couple times a week if my friends want to go out

I've been to a coffee shop once or twice, and the only time I've ever been in a bar was when I was dating my ex husband and he was on a dart league. I've never had a drink in a bar.

Not really either one. But I would go to a bar over a coffee shop because I don't drink coffee.

Neither really. Only been in a bar twice and they have no desire for me. I'd much rather sit in a small cafe c: and I've chilled at a Starbucks more times than I can count.

Used to frequent independent coffee shops like crazy in my mid-teens to early twenties.

At age 35: I've gone to bars rather infrequently, but only because of friends being in bands that play at them. C lives practically next door to a coffee shop (his roommate's girlfriend works there, too), so we've gone there at least once every weekend.

I hung out at the bars a lot when I was 21 or 22, but it got old for me. I'm not a very big drinker anyways. I'm also more likely to have a glass of wine at home or make my own coffee.
