Do you sleep with the TV on?

mainly, the noise helps me fall asleep if i'm not tired at the time. if i am, i don't need it on...but i still keep it on anyways. >_>

I used to have insomnia, so it helped. After watching the first half of Fight Club 50 times, I got annoyed with never seeing the end of anything.

I have a similar but different problem. While I don't use the tv to fall asleep, I do use my cell phone to. There is a lovely white static that puts me to sleep so fast. Listening to my LDR partner's musical voice doesn't hurt either

If I'm really tired I can fall asleep with it on, but if I'm having trouble sleeping it would bother me and the flickering light would bother me too.

I used to listen to music or the radio, but now I don't really do that.

I don't think it's healthy to sleep with the TV on. The body needs silence to truly rest.

When I was sleeping listening to movies, I'd start it up the next night at the last spot I remembered, so that way I wouldn't have to watch the first half a billion times but never see the end.

When I am alone, I love to watch TV to get sleepy; unfortunately, I fall asleep with it on and it will wake me up - being woke up within the first hour of sleep pisses me off.

When my husband is home, there is absolutely no TV watching while sleeping or trying to sleep! He needs total darkness and absolute silence - funny, because he snores like a freaking freight train sometimes. I just pray I fall asleep first!

I hate noise when I'm trying to sleep. My husband always slept with the TV on before we moved in together, but it kept me awake when I was visiting. Our first apartment we only had the one TV which lived in the main room so that was fine, and then when we moved into our house I banned TV from the bedroom before he got any plans to buy another one. If I'm being kept awake, you can be damn sure he's doing to be awake, too.

Now, however, I am beginning to relent on the TV in the bedroom idea - when I hurt my shoulder late last year and couldn't move around too much, it would have been fantastic to be able to watch TV in bed rather than trying to find an okay way to sit on my uncomfy old sofa.

But even if we do get one, it still won't be allowed on while I sleep.

I don't have a TV in my room so this isn't even an issue but when I did I never left it on. My mother is the opposite she needs the TV on and its annoying to thick of all the electricity that being wasted as she sleeps all night with the TV on.

Impossible to sleep with it on. Exception: When I am violently ill, it MUST be on, and it MUST be tuned to a crappy sci-fi show that I kind of hate but whose inexorable, cheerful crappiness lulls my nausea enough for me to fall into a protracted doze.

Weird? Well... yes, have we met?

I only sleep with it on when I can't get to sleep because my thoughts keep going around and around. I actually prefer radio shows or audiobooks though, b/c then I don't keep my eyes open. If I do have tv shows, I always put on something I know really well and don't care if I sleep though it. I don't have a tv, I just watch everything on my computer.

I don't mind if my boyfriend is watching something and I'm about to fall asleep. It won't keep me up if I have no interest whatsoever (ie: westerns, really nerdy shows, anime that is poorly done imo )...

But I also voted Other because we don't have cable, so it's not like we can leave it dimly on in the background. We have a PS3 and have Netflix hooked up to it, so it's often shows we're choosing to watch and want to be awake for...

I need the tv off to sleep - unless I'm dead tired or have had migraine pills that just zap me whether I like it or not.

This is where I get anal. It's a waste of money to leave it on, so I set my alarm to wake me up if I fall asleep so I can turn it off and go to bed.

The sound of the tv doesnt really bother me if I'm really tired but just the fact that it's on and no one will turn it off will stop me from going to sleep. If someone else is watching and is going to turn it off then it's fine but if it's just me and I'm drifting off, I make sure to turn it off.

It's really hard for me to get to sleep in the first place, so if the TV is on I won't be able to go to sleep at all. Usually, if someone needs the TV on to sleep I end up waiting till they are sleeping then turn it off so I can get to sleep.
I have a hard time sleeping when it's on though, because there is just no way I can tune it out.

Sometimes I can fall asleep with the tv on, but usually I just end up watching whatever is one and staying up way later than i intended.

I don't mind the sound from the tv, it's the changing brightness of the light that keeps me up. I normally fall asleep to music, it helps distract my wondering mind.

I will not go to sleep without the tv on. No way no how, unless I'm camping, and then I need a radio.
That being said, I'm a very light sleeper, and wake up at the slightest noise, but not the tv.
