I use a q-tip to clean deep inside my ears, even though you are not supposed to do that. Cotton balls just don't do it for me. What do you use???

Yeah, if people didn't use q-tips for cleaning the inside of their ears I double the company would be doing as well : )

IT's not recommended to do it because in rare cases the head of the q-tip can come off, or in rarer more worse cases, you could damage your ear drum. 20+ years I have used q-tips, and know tons of people who have done it their whole life. Never heard of a single issue from anyone with it that I know and I have been ok using them.

I've always used q-tips, however these days I try not to go too deep for cleaning.

I've never felt the need to use anything to go IN my ear. Just a tissue on the easily reachable outside parts works for me. Maybe I produce less earwax.

Suction: I place a clean nylon cover on the finger and place it on -not in- my ear and make a suction movement in and out. This is more safer and clean very well.

I can't use q-tips because I'm prone to severe ear infections, and q-tips cause them for me. My doctor says they create micro tears in the skin inside my ears which allows the bacteria to get in. I just wash my ears with a baby wash cloth, wich obviously doesn't reach into the inner canal. My doctor said if I get wax buildup I can come in and get it removed there, but its been like 5 years since I stopped using q-tips and I haven't had to yet. Guess I don't make much ear wax.

Q-tips actually can pack the earwax into your ear if you are using it too deep. My doctor scolded me because I always used to use Q-tips.

If I have a plugged ear, I use a bit of oil. You put a bit on a cotton ball, squeeze it so a few drops fall into your ear.. keep your head tilted so the oil stays in the ear for about 15 minutes, and then place a piece of tissue by your ear, tilt your head the other way and a bit of wax will come out with the oil. It sounds weird but it works.

I've had issues with my ears since I was little and can't use q-tips, my doctor told me about this stuff called Debrox, it helps dissolve the ear wax and you just gently rinse them out with warm water.

I LOVE the feeling of cleaning my ears with a q-tip...but for the sake of safety, I don't do it often and when I do I try not to go too far.

I use Johnson's cotton swaps, they seem to have better quality than Q-tips. I needed to clean my ears in the morning, and again at night after my shower, can't stand that watery feeling inside my ears.
