Free photo editing software for Mac

Contributor: - Kira - - Kira -
Does anyone know of good free photo editing software for Mac computers? I need to be able to draw lines and add text. Ability to do collages would be a plus, but I have another program that can do that so if not it's not a huge deal. Anything but GIMP. That runs really slow and clunky on my laptop for some reason.

I downloaded Acorn, but that costs $50 after the trial. I also got ImageWell, which works great, but is $20 after trial. Cheaper than Acorn, but not free. If I can't find free software I guess I'll just shuck out the money, but free is always nice. I went through all the pages of free software on CNET with no luck. Maybe I'm missing something?

Thanks for any help!

When I looked up a paint for Mac, it said Paintbrush was like paint. I use to do all of my collages in paint then upload to my photobucket to add links. It was free.

Picnik, at least the free version, only has the ability to add text. There is no option to draw lines.

ahh... I didn't know that. I know people who use it but I don't myself (Photoshop, here).
