I go once a week. The wife will pick up things through out the week that are on sale or she feels we need.

I do a big shopping trip for the essentials bi-weekly. I'll do one or two little fill in trips on the off week for things I forgot or didn't realize we were almost out of.

every other week. I used to go every week, but the spending was getting a little crazy. I found that just shopping less often was easier than budgeting!

Weekly. I like to get a lot of fresh produce and a lot of what I get just doesn't last even a week long.

I always make a list before I go, though, so I know what I'm making throughout the week and what I need for those meals to try to hinder myself from buying unnecessary items. I still buy extra items, but not as many.
