Smoker or Non-Smoker

Contributor: Geogeo Geogeo
I smoked for 7 years (and still do when I drink) before quitting 2 years ago but I still love the smell and everything about it and seem to be attracted to smokers more.

NO to cigs... but maybe to Green. It just depends on how you act when you are stoned... Funny and lazy: okay! Mean and nast: Not okay!

I would not since I'm a bit too conscious about my own health to allow someone else to have that kind of effect on it.

No I wouldn't, It's just annoying and smelly. Plus I have asthma so it would kill me to be around them.

My husband and I come from a long line of smokers and we smoked for YEARS before deciding that we were tired of feeling terrible and smelling just as bad. We were losing our sense of taste and we are complete gourmands! Since quitting I have noticed that nonsmokers have a better bodily flavor as well as smell (for the most part) and I am just not very attracted to a smoker!

Not since I had my daughter. She was a preemie, and I had to yell at her bio dad's family about smoking and what damage it could cause.

My Dom is a smoker, and I don't mind as long as he does it outside. I never thought I'd be able to date a smoker until I met him, now it doesn't seem like that big of a deal (although I do wish he would stop for health reasons)

I would not date someone who smokes weed though.

I would never date a non-smoker again, unless they were really understanding and supportive.

I have a horrible addiction that started when I was too dumb to know what I was doing to my body. Now that I'm older and have had hard times trying to quit, I'm wishing I had never started. I know I couldn't date anyone who has never smoked, unless they had an addiction problem they overcame (like anorexia or bulimia or something). They have no idea how hard it is to quit or the stigma smokers face from judgmental non-smokers. I mean, I know I smell. It bothers me too sometimes, but it's a thought that quickly fades away as I think about other things going on. It's really not something I think that defines me as a person. Like someone else added, I try to be considerate and only smoke outside, away from children, the elderly, and the non-smokers.

Ultimately, I think I'd be happier if I had a relationship with a smoker. That way, when we do both quit, we'll have mutual support and understanding.

My parents and brother smoked while I was growing up and it threw me off it forever, I hated smelling like cigarette smoke. I've never smoked and neither does my husband. I have kissed a man that smokes and I couldn't kiss him for a long time because it's just disgusting to me.

I used to smoke cigarettes and when my man and I got together he did not smoke but loved me but hated my smoking. He had been my best friend for many years before this and hated it then too. I quit almost two and a half years ago and I realize how disgusting I smelled now! Holy cats I just don't think i could kiss a smoker and not gag now honestly. Kinda hypocritical I know but I just don't think I could do it. I have a very good friend who smokes in her home and she will give me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and the smell to me is overwhelming and nauseating.

I quit smoking 22 yrs. ago and at the time it wasn't a big deal to me to date someone else that smokes, but today I would consider it major turn off if I was still dating.

my grandfather died from complications related to smoking before I was born. I also have asthma issues, so... I would rather not date a smoker. but everyone has their vices, and if he was a great guy otherwise and was working to quit, I would consider it.

I have dated a smoker. I hated kissing them. Blegh! But, I can't really say anything because once in a blue moon I'll have a cigar. It's only once a year or so...

Thank you for this. Smoking does not define who a person is. As long as they are considerate to smoke away from those they should not then I have no problem with it. Standing in front of Wal mart with a bunch of children and other passerby's is not being considerate. The smell is nasty, but it is easily covered up by cologne, washing your hands, and other natural smells. Quitting smoking cigarettes is not easy! Trust me I did it, but I am glad I did. Now, to work on getting hubby to quit.
