Sports figures with "performance enhancing drug" scandals. Politicians with sex scandals

Sports figures with "performance enhancing drug" scandals . Politicians with sex scandals. Seems like we are flooded with this stuff all of a sudden. Is the media just finding stuff to focus on, or are morals and ethics totally gone in the public arena and it's "do whatever you can get away with", rather then having any thought of "what is right or wrong"?
