That uses the same logic as the fact that all convicted murderers drank milk as children, therefore drinking milk as a child will make you a ...
I agree with your logic. Just because someone is carrying condoms, that doesn't make them a prostitute. Likewise, just because someone is a prostitute, that doesn't always mean they are carrying condoms.

I carry condoms (well I don't need them anymore but I use to have like 5 in my purse at all times), my friends all carry condoms, and there's loads of kids who always carry condoms. Why? Because we don't want STD's and we don't want to get pregnant. Not because we're having sex for money. That should not be evidence.

This is so messed up, it makes me mad. Safe sex is a good thing! And, I'm sorry, but a woman carrying a condom is automatically a prostitute, whereas a man carrying a condom is....what? I doubt they are arresting guys for having a bunch of condoms in their wallet.

Not to mention the fact that I don't think police should be arresting women (many of them young and/or runaways from abusive homes) who are so desperate for money that they are willing to walk down the street looking for strangers to have sex with. Arrest the pimps who take advantage if you're going to arrest anyone for selling/buying sex. Don't make women protecting themselves from STDs a crime.

That's insane! Can't believe that this would even be an issue at all.

Wow, I lived in New York from Sept. 2001 till April of this year and I never knew that. NY is more fudged up that I originally thought.

Good for them if they carry them - THEY SHOULD, in my opinion. Sex work has nothing to do with condoms. I think that is ridiculous, I had no idea.

Arrest me now then because I have them in my wallet at all times. It never hurts to be prepared (even if I am not the one who wants to have sex and be safe, I am more than happy to share them to keep people safe).

Wow. Really? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Just because you have condoms, it doesn't mean you're going to have sex with strangers!

I think it's a right everyone should have, the right to carry condoms. It would be insane for certain individuals not 2 carry them( excluding married coulpes) with all the diseases out there. Just because you carry condoms don't make you a pro. This doesn't make any sense to me.

I think this is the kind of 'evidence' that's used to screw over people who are already suspected of prostitution.

And yeah, what if I want to buy in bulk?

Not only is it ridiculous, it's completely sexist.

It supposes that women would never have a reason to carry condoms because women aren't responsible for safe sex in a relationship or do not even like sex and actively avoid it. It also sends the message that women should not be having sex outside of sex with intent to procreate.

Try to check your typical teenage boy's wallet - then tell him he's a suspected prostitute.

Absurd. Propositioning is the way to prove guilt in prosti cases.

Exactly! I was about to speak about this issue! This only promotes unsafe sex practices within the industry, whether you agree with what sex workers do or not.

Me too. I kind of cant believe carrying condoms can get you a prostitution charge.

But, if the person has like... a zillion condoms.. I could see that being proof. The average person would only have a few on them, or they would still be in the box.

Eh, still. I don't think that is very fair.
