Does anyone else want to weep openly at the results of the Election?

Hmm... because I cannot stay out of things.

I identify as Republican but, like most sane Republicans, I wish the Tea Party would just GO AWAY and stop making the rest of us look bad.
As an left leaning person I completely agree with you re: Tea Party.

At the same time though, I wish we had another dozen political parties instead of just two

Well there's the Independent Party, the Green Party, the Libertarian Party, the Constitution Party along with a whole bunch of other parties: link

The main problem is finding a party that can even compete with the Democrat and Republican parties.

You should see what is going on right now in Italy. The "former" Fascists now oppose Berlusconi and presenting themselves as the moderate alternative, while the undisguised Fascists attack the "former" Fascists and call them the left!

P'Gell here are two quotes to cheer you up:

1. "I'd rather vote for what I want, and not get it than vote for what I don't want, and get it." Eugene Debs

2. "Marx grasped this essence of capitalist democracy splendidly when, in analyzing the experience of the Commune, he said that the oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class shall represent and repress them in parliament!

But from this capitalist democracy--that is inevitably narrow and stealthily pushes aside the poor, and is therefore hypocritical and false through and through--forward development does not proceed simply, directly and smoothly, towards "greater and greater democracy", as the liberal professors and petty-bourgeois opportunists would have us believe."

Hee hee hee hee. (Sorry for the giggle, but they are amusing.) When they are on the TV, I just gesture "giving them enough rope." They'll hang themselves, as they have no idea how things work.

As you said, "Sane Conservatives" aren't any more fond of the Tea Partyers than most Bleeding Heart Liberals are. I think the operative word here is "sane."

Wow!...If the results of the midterm brought you to tears, you might consider getting some Xanax before the 2012 election.

Unfortunately,I think you missed the boat with that plan. The Euro-Socialist model is imploding as we speak. That's why I find it amazing that some folks here still consider the Progressive/Socialist path as a viable alternative for the U.S. I mean, the "proof is in the pudding". It's not as if we don't have enough "real world" examples (benefits and drawbacks) of each system. Any model that enables the populace to "game the system" by drawing out MUCH more than they put in, is ultimately...DOOMED! That fact is not only being demonstrated throughout Europe, but also right here at home. The current issues concerning unions, medicare and social security (huge benefits vs. small contributions) are further evidence of the exact same (flawed) concept. Basic mathematics reasons that: any system based on the pipedream that you can magically withdraw ten times what you contributed, is destined for failure. While I truly appreciate your passion, I'm confused by your logic. Do you really want your children eventually giving ALL of their earnings to the government and letting the Washington bureaucracy determine what your kids will get back in return?
