Many of my friends are unhappiliy married and have different reasons for staying, or they say i don't know, what is your true reason? What would change your unhappiness, is it you or him?
If you are unhappily married, what keeps you in the realtionship?

I am not married and don't want to for a very long time if ever, but from my experiences with people, the two main reasons for staying in an unhappy marriage is the children (don't want to tear family apart) and financial reasons (divorces are expensive as hell). Neither are good enough reasons to be unhappy in my opinion.

I had been in such a situation - ten years of marriage with a man whom I should have just stayed friends with. My reason was fear of being alone. Never again.

In one case that I'm aware of, the woman is afraid her husband will have her off'd because of the amount of assets involved. In another it was the kids. In another it was self-esteem.
Everyone has a reason, I don't think it's acceptable to dismiss the reasons someone stays in a relationship. It's their life and only they can change it.
